Forums - Nintendo Discussion - First time I play a Zelda game! I have a question.

It's Ocarina of Time 3D.To be honest I haven't started it yet because I have a question.Should I play the normal mode, or the Master Quest mode?

I've read it's a more difficult but I don't know how difficult the original game is.So this means nothing to me.

What do you think? (Keep in mind that I generally like difficult games, like the Souls series and I play most of my games on "Hard" difficulty.

However there plenty of games that I found "hard" too difficult for the first playthrough.e.g. God of War and Dead Space)

Go for the original mode. It's more straightforward and if you ask me it's also better.

Enjoy your first Zelda though. You chose a great place to start!

The original mode should definitely be played first. A lot of things in the Master Quest mode appears to be out of place, and it's clear that the maps were designed with the original items, puzzles and key locations in mind.

Besides, not even Master Quest is even remotely difficult.

Normal mode.

The Master Quest mode makes dungeons non-sensical, so it's not exactly recommended for players that don't really know 'Zelda basics' and things will seem weird because they don't really belong. You'll take double damage as well in that mode. It is probably more fun though, because of the challenge, but Ocarina of Time is challenging, though not very, enough by itself.

Pitty, I like when games give me a challenge

on the 3ds version don't you need to complete it on original before you an play master quest?

What with it being a first Zelda, you'll still find the odd part challenging.

Agreed.

A nice challenge, if you ever feel the need to replay the game or want a challenge from the start, is to complete the game without picking up any heart containers. That way each fight will become much more intense.
