Forums - Sales Discussion - XB1 is undertracked yet keeps getting adjusted DOWN

Yeah it sucks but I am beginning to understand why they do it. They are tracking real time sales and can't add numbers if they don't know where the sales have occurred. So I think it is better that VGC tracks the regions correctly, even if that means that the overall sales doesn't match since some regions are harder to track. Besides, we know shipments :).

What the hell?! XB1 last week US sales adjusted up, but the previous weeks adjusted down so the WiiU - XB1 gap is getting ever bigger despite Xbox selling higher and higher.

The same happened to PS4.  Don't know what's going on.

We have PS4 and X1 heavily undertracked and Wii U is over. Even this way, when the 400k next week's number hit, the X1 will be pretty close. I was imagining it would pass the U in Q1 or Q2 2015, but now it can do it this year. Wii U's performance was way more mediocre I was predicting and it was an easy prey for both competitors.

Same with PS4

Can't even begin to imagine what PS4 shipments are at atm, like 16m+ easy.

I understand that VGC has an error margin, but when they refused to fix their numbers even after an official statement of units sold directly to consumers, that's weird.

I'm starting to think ioi is on to something here, though. If only some of us worked at these retailers...

This has already been addressed previously.

VGC simply can't use stealth corrections for its numbers every time there's a discrepancy between official company numbers and retail sell through estimates. That would essentially invalidate the VGC numbers and formula for calculating estimates.

Every time significant adjustments are made, those discrepancies need to be accounted for and changes must be made to the estimation formula before they show up in the VGC numbers.

It is really puzzling, but there will be an explanation when any corrections are made.

With regards to the XBO, now that it is available in more markets it's going to see some of the same problems that plagued the PS3 numbers (and to a lesser degree, the PS4) that accounted for a lot of the discrepancies.

If VGC makes it a practice to simply add or subtract numbers every time an official statement is released with no explanation, it would defeat the purpose of its estimates in the first place.

Well clearly their estimation formula needs adjustments. Are you trying to say xbox one/ps4 are going to be undertracked until gen 9 comes out??

I find it hard to believe that 4 million xbox ONES are sitting on store shelves. So it's deff undertracked

PSN & XBOX GT : cutzman25

He's subtracting numbers like people subtracted numbers from his points in the Most Attractive User contest. He be salty yo...

VGChartz♥♥♥♥♥FOREVER

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

Mr Writer should write and article on it. "The baffling numbers on Vgchartz. An indepth analysis. "

Go ahead and throw the ps4 in there also. Would make for an awesome read.

How do we know it's undertracked?
