Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Any gen where you preferred the competitors console rather than your favorite company's?

In the 6th gen, all four systems were close to equal for me.

Well...not really...I'm a Sony/Nintendo gamer and always have been. I usually find Nintendo and Sony consoles different enough to justify owning both, while the Xbox always seemed like a PS catered to Americans. No need to ever own one.

These have been my home consoles (on order of purchase)

5th gen: N64
6th gen: GC, PS2
7th gen: Wii, PS3
8th gen: none yet, will likely be WiiU, PS4.

catch my drift?

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Yup, PS2 was better than the Gamecube and Xbox.

Ever since ps1, Sony has been my favorite. Except during the ps2 days, there would be lots of times when I preferred my GameCube and Dreamcast over it. And even now I'm anxiously waiting to get an Xbox one for Christmas for the halo collection. But in the end, sony always had the best and biggest selection of games and genres to choose from over everyone else which makes the PlayStation my favorite of all time.

@norm. Yep that makes sense. I wonder how come you didn't get PS1 during 5th gen. N64 was pretty awesome but PS1 had a ton of games SNES owners would have expected. Maybe because you never owned a SNES?

That's the interesting thing about the 5th gen, it's like the N64 and PS1 were both children of the SNES, like siblings who inherited differents qualities of their mother.

only last gen comes to mind favored ps3 but 360>ps3 in everything barring a few exclusives like uncharted and tlou

I was 5 when I got my N64. I didn't really have a say until gen 6 hahaha. Oddly enough I didn't get a SNES until after I bought my PS3. Technically it's my most recent console purchase haha.

preferred console = new favorite company.

Or at least that's how I see it.

Nintendo was my favorite then Sony... then Sega, then back to Sony then MS.

I guess the best example is 7th gen, went with the 360 as my main console when I really liked Playstation.

Nope. I was a Nintendo kid up to 97-98, whenever my brother bought a PSone, then its been PlayStation all the way after that. N64 competed and I love the games I played for it but it never reach my love for PSone. Enjoyed GameCube and Wii, Xbox and 360 never appealed to me but PlayStation always had the 1# spot.

Nah, I always prefered Nintendo.

Though, I would say that I briefly owned a PSP.... then traded it for a DS less than a year later :P
