Forums - Sony Discussion - Bloodborne Producer: Targeting 30 FPS because it's better for action games

No, just say the PS4 can't run it at 1080p/60fps or just DON'T say anything about resolution and framerate.

I wouldnt mind devs saying we went for 30fps because we wanted to push graphics. The visuals are so important to this game, its a no brainer to go for 30fps with this game

Like I've said before, I'm in the minority here, but except for FPS's, 60FPS just looks so weird to me and I prefer 30fps.

One more to add to the list of lame excuses.

Funny that devs call gamers too focused on graphics, by which they mean resolution and frame rate, while it's them that want to cram too many effects in the game that it reduces visibility and hampers responsive game play.

It will be fine at 30fps, but just be honest. With all the effects we wanted to put in the game we could not reach 60fps. Now is that so hard. Or is the game engine really going to sit idle for half the time cause it's not allowed to go past 30fps...

A solid 30 fps will be a big improvement compared to previous games

900p is also a big improvement we're seeing this gen. :-p

I kinda thought it was going for 60 fps, the graphics don't look great.

Oh well!!!

I was thinking the same thing

Anyway, I'm confident the game will be great, frame rate notwithstanding. What bothers me is this framerate/resolution paradigm. Fans are fixated on it, journalists have integrated it into their taking points, and game producers, who have better things to do, are obligated to respond to questions about it.

Definitely.  I'm sick of it and I'm sure developers are, as well.  The resolution and FPS are the first things they get pestered about.  It seems to matter to some people more than the actual content of the game.

People on both consoles braved through the less than 15 FPS of Blighttown in what many call the best Souls game. Im sure 30 will be fine for BB.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Hopefully 4k gaming (if it happens next gen) doesn't open up another can of worms like this one.

Oh geez... I wouldn't mind if From Software said, "We're targeting 30FPS because we're pushing this game graphically." However, for action games where reflexes and that last bit of frames really count, 60FPS should be the standard.

They're not the kind of team to really push hardware, but equally it doesn't take them 4 years or 800 people to develop and release a game on scedule.
