And it looks like it's happening to other people too. Is there a site glitch or what is going on?

*edit* it has stopped now, but this morning it was at 2800 and now is at 3600. It isn't that big of a deal; I was just wondering about it

Here lies the hidden threads.

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

I'd like to be a mod.

What was the reason for not allowing General Discussion threads to be shown in the front page's Forum Hot Topics?

I think there's a chance these threads get ignored by a lot of people.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I would like to know too. I just refresh the hot topic page on the forum.

I do that as well, I refresh the Hot Topic page but I think there could be a lot of people that don't bother doing that at all and therefore threads made in forums that don't show up at the front page end up ignored.

My guess for the decision of not showing threads from certain forums may be due to, as I recall from years back, several user threads made back in the day in the General Forum that felt like spam or casual things. Maybe they want to keep those topics not affecting the image of VGChartz, a gaming site, you know, by being there at the front and all.

But then what is the point of making threads in a forum no one or barely anyone visits?

Yeah, there could be people who loiter on the front page. I personally like the non-gaming threads now and then. Especially when 80% of the threads are nintendo related. I would like to see more news from other countries type of threads. Maybe music from different countries. Just something we don't rant about all the time. So yes, general discussion should be on the front page in my opinion.

This is the culprit

I think that was originally because there were some pretty NSFW threads created in General Discussion and having them on the front page put off advertisers or something. Of course now there is a separate NSFW section so it's probably a case of ioi just not being interested enough in General Discussion to add it back.

That could explain things. People in VGChartz will decide to do what they think is best for the website and if they don't want General forum threads on the front page that is their call.

But then I guess there's no point in putting much effort into creating threads people will barely see.

A little more variation in the forum discussions would be appreciated indeed. But we can't have that if people don't see threads where they can discuss other things.

lol I can imagine having a flood of threads like that making VGStaffers opt to put those threads away from the front page. But like Ka-Pi96 said, there's a NSFW subforum apart.

Also if having pointless threads, spam threads, created in the General forum and put on the front page is the issue, I'd say Mods have been taking care of spam threads for a while now. The situation is controlled.

Unless they fear that promoting non-videogame related discussions may bring more work, more threads to mod, and the whole point of not showing General Forum threads at the front page could be Mods slowly killing those threads to simplify work. I don't know.

What is going on here? He didn't insult a moderator or anything, he just said my ban was nonsense. How is that breaking a rule?

What is the mod team trying to achieve here, soon enough you won't have any users left at this rate.

Also, this is the second time a thread that took me time to write is locked. Why didn't you simply ask me to remove the part about moderators?

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=205319

The rules are there to help the community, now it seems like they are being used to punish users who mean well.

And lastly, if I raised a concern in the thread, why did the mods not try to contact me about it?

Right now it seems like the team is not making efforts to harmonize, rather opting to wield the hammer and punish. In the meantime it is harming the community imho.

Problems With Moderation. If you have a problem with a moderator or a moderation, send the moderator who issued your moderation a private message (Rule 11 applies to PMs as well as posts, wall posts, and any other moderator-related conversation), and if you are still dissatisfied, send a private message to the Lead Moderators.

  • Do not post these issues in the forums, outside of moderator-sanctioned threads, or on the moderator's wall - doing so will result in moderation action against you.
It's right here. Do not post these issues in the forums, outside of moderator-sanctioned threads, etc.

Both your thread and Samus' posts violated this rule. Samus' posts were moderated, because he should and does know better and because he broke the rules so brazenly. And your thread was locked, in an effort to harmonize, believe it or not. The thread broke the rules and it had already derailed. That's why it was locked.

The mod team consistently bends over backward to avoid moderation whenever possible. And, yes, the rules are here to help the community, not to help one member's specific version of what the community should be.

Finally, the mod team can and does issue warnings and send PMs in an effort to educate and caution our members. But, padib, you've been a member for six years. Are you suggesting you were unaware of the rules when you created your thread?
