For me, Bleach went from an interesting little monster-of-the-week show with potential, to a phenominal arc  in the SS that set the series up for tons of awesomeness down the line, to absolute garbage afterward. It peaked after the SS arc to rescue Rukia and everytime it came close to matching that engaging level of focus from the SS arc, BAM! Here's more filler smackdab in the middle of a big, important canon fight, tr0ll'd ya, Rick R0ll'd ya! Twice during the Hueco Mundo arc did I have to go back and study up on the characters and their abilities because of big long breaks from anything that actually mattered.

The filler got progressively worse too. The Bount arc would have been OK if it wasn't so damn long and drawn out. Compared to the trash the Naruto studio was spewing out every week at the time, the Bount arc was gold. That sword beast bullshit was an insult not only to our intelligence,  but to anyone who had been watching the show since Season 2. How the hell does Zabimaru go from an actual nue (a monster from Japanese mythology) to an bratty kid and dumb bimbo with the most retarded fighting style ever? It got better with the Fullbringer arc, but by then, all the soul had been sucked out of Bleach (no pun intended) after the disappointing conclusion with Aizen. The Bleach anime became a joke of itself.

Despite my hatred and loating for it, a part of me still loves it too. A part of me was sholding out hope for it to get back to SS arc levels again, which is why I'm so disappointed in it. Hopefully, if they return to the anime after the manga wraps up, it can be strictly business and go out with the bang it deserves.

With a few exceptions, this is why I usually prefer the manga source material over anime adaptations for shounen series like this. Hearing voices and soundtracks is cool...but not as much at the expence of pacing nightmares and filler arcs. Some, like Bleach, just squeeze in filler arcs right in the middle of canon material, while others, like Naruto, just flat-out contradict canon. I remember back when I was into Naruto, I read how Kishi took out a long fight sequence between Pain's Deva Path and Tsunade, as he wanted Naruto to be the first character to land hit on that body. Then the anime comes along...extends Hinata Hyuuga's 3 panel OHKO into half an episode...and actually has her land a hit on Deva Path. Like really...what in the actual hell?

Anyways...I actually still follow the Bleach manga, though it's been starting to bore me too. I loved the Arrancar Arc (Grimmjow and Nnoitra fights were the high points of the series for me), but the Fullbringer arc was just anticlimactic nonsense. I feel lke it got better for a while...the current manga arc was building up to something awesome...but lately I feel like he's just been dragging along. The Sternritter are so boring compared to the Espada and Gotei 13. Other than Ishida, Ychwach and Haschwaldth, they're all so one-dimensional. It's like he gave each one a name, character design, and power...and then stopped. Kubo used to be so good at making villains sympathetic. I dunno what happened.

Gosh I probably sound like a grumpy old man. At least I haven't grown jaded towards OP and FT...yet...

I don't know whether to feel pride or shame in saying I've punished myself into watching every episode of Naruto, parts 1 and 2. Every single one. So while I will be somewhat sad that a series that has ran on for more than a third of my life is ending, a big part of me can't wait to free up that slot for attention for better anime in the future. There have been some fantastic highs, but there have been way too many rock-bottom, scraping the septic tank lows.

I began watching Yu Yu Hakusho again a couple of weeks ago, for the first time in about a decade (now that I think about it, about the same time I began watching Naruto...). If you have never seen it, I strongly recommend it. It's another longrunner, but the plot moves along at a breakneck pace compared to the Big 3. I'm about 67 episodes in, and so far I can only recall one single episode of filler, and that was really more like a necessary breather after the climax of a major arc. My appreciation for it has grown tremendously after 10 years of bullshit from InuYasha, Naruto, and especially Bleach.

It really makes me realize how I lowered my standards after being trained to suffer through so much crap from these longrunners over the years. After Naruto, I will never wait on a weekly longrunner of their ilk again. There is way too much content with much better writing and progression out there that can be enjoyed in far less time.

kinda old post but i just had to quote you.

Yu yu hakusho was great just right after the taguro arc. after that it got stupid. dragonball z stupid.

spoilers spoilers spoilers...too lazy to put spoliers thingy sooooo....yeah...

I mean, taguro was kicking their asses all over the place and was one mean fuker! then after that arc it turns out, he's class B? WTF? then there's a class A and S and SS and SS+ and whatever crap? WTF?!  By the end of the series, taguro is nothing more than a piece of tard to everyone...lame.

on a side note, have you seen flame of recca? anime ended too early for me. its one of those manga's that i found acceptable from start to end without too much major lameness at the end.

you're still following that crap? really? i actually forced myself to read through that fullbringer arc...failed misserably lol!

fairy tail is full of nonesense now, naruto is just lame and bleach is just garbage to me now. luckily naruto is ending. now if only bleach would end soon too. this  is sad, i'm running out of stuff to read... maybe is should start reading freezing again...too bad it went major retard as well. even if it has lots of boobs, its too awefull fo me to keep following. a prime example of how draging a series or manga will make it horrible.

time to dig through my backups and re-read ranma 1/2  or slam dunk i suppose.

Don't know if you already read them, but Magi and Nanatsu no Taizai are great manga's, NNT espeicially, the writing in that manga is phenominal. There's also UQ Holder that's top notch, and a lot of people rate Assasination Classroom, and Toriko, but I couldn't get into them.

I meant the Arrancar arc. It really feels bogged down (for me at least), and muddled plot wise. The action is still decent, but at this point I'm so lost I can't even bother.

It may have gotten better later on, but from where I left off, it wasn't anything special.

Everybody shares that opinion regarding the Arrancar arc. Kubo himself stated that he writes/draws as he goes rather than planning beforehand, which sucks.

Nice! IMO that's the best way to do things

Not always.

In most cases, not planning things out can lead to plotholes, confusion, and the likes later on, especially in story-oriented series like these.

I don't think there are any/much plotholes in Bleach (despite what a lot of people might say), but Everybody in the fandom agrees that if Kubo planned out some of the things earlier on, then We might've seen better pacing and less confusion.

You do realize that the same studio who animates Bleach is also the same studio who animates Naruto ... Though I do agree that Bleach has the best fillers by far compared to the rest of the big three but that's not saying a whole lot since a lot of the fillers in Bleach are also a miss too.

The Bleach fillers are still pretty bad though.

The Zanpakutou arc is decent at best, and while some people consider the Gotei 13 Invading Army arc to be good, or even better than the canon (I disagree), I still think that the canon material trumps everything by far, because it's the creators' job to write the story, and their original visions usually (though not always) trump other people's ideas.

Kubo's problem is that he introduces waaaaay to many characters, and We probably won't even get any backstories considering the fact that Bleach's time is limited.

I actually like the sternritters, atleast the first wave of them (Characters like Bazz B, As Nodt, Royd and Loyd, that guy who trapped Ichigo (forgot his name), etc. were all amazing IMO, but these recents ones like Nianzol, Pepe, that Thor guy, etc. aren't appealing at all IMO).

As Nodt's design was amazing, but his backstory just didn't stand out to me.  Same with the Lloyds and the Super Nazi. Kubo always rocks when it comes to character designs...but so far I don't really feel sympathetic towards most of the Sternritter. Compare As Nodt and the twins' pre-death backstories with Ulquiorra and Grimmjow's times as Menos...it just seems so rushed in comparison. There's always the chance some of them will be treated like Ulquiorra, and get a special backstory in the databook...but I'm not really optimistic. It just doesn't seem to me that Kubo cares as much about these guys as the Espada.

Though like you said, if the time is limited, that might be the issue right there. I just hope he's not sacrificing ideas to wrap the story up. When the plot moved to Hueco Mundo near the beginning of the arc, I was hoping to see a few Espada return to the story. But other than Grimmjow, who Kubo is hiding for some reason, we didn't see any of them. And now, after Kisuke has shown up with that stupidly convenient Hollow pill...I'm honestly terrified that Kubo decided to sacrifice a big Arrancar entrance for something quicker, then throw Arrancar fans a bone with a bunch of random ones for the zombie fight.

I hope I'm wrong though, and he does have a plan in mind. Ychwach's backstory was one of the best Bleach chapters I've read in a long time...so I don't think Kubo's quite lost it yet. It just seems so hit or miss lately.

This is good, so I can finally read the last 100 chapters in a couple days, rest in rip Naruto.. you did good.

Great! Now I can start it. Was waiting for it to end before I marathon the entire thing without filler.
