Final Fantasy Remake's: Anybody Else Surprised FFVII HD isnt a thing yet?

Im kinda surprised as they have FFX (second best sold game of the franchise) out already, making type-0 (my first FF im going to play in awhile).

Its the highest sold of the franchise and probably the most popular if im not mistaken (overall media).

Do you guys see it happening? I mean SE is happy making hd remakes as thy also just recently made KH 1.5 and 2.5.

Thoughts?

This not good enough for you?? (From its wiki)
On July 4, 2012, Square Enix revealed that a PC re-release was forthcoming. It was subsequently released on August 14. The game features 36 new achievements to be unlocked, "Cloud Saves", and a "Character Booster" feature. This remasterization for modern PCs was developed by DotEmu[59][60] and is available exclusively via the Square Enix store. The game can be played at Full HD (1920x1080) resolution with upscaled original graphics.[61] The release is primarily aimed to port the classic game into a downloadable game to be run on modern Windows OSs (XP/Vista/7) and DirectX 9.0c.[62]

On July 4, 2013, the game was released on the Steam digital distribution platform for Windows PCs.[63]

I'd be surprised if it doesn't happen one day.

But it isn't all that surprising it hasn't yet. Other ones like FFX and Type-0 are very easy to do, they are just improving the graphics by a tiny little bit, and in the case of FFX that still took them YEARS!

FFVII is so outdated it would need a full remake which for Square Enix right now.... wouldn't be fast

It would also cost a damn fortune as people expect FFXIII or Advent Children like graphics from it right now and wouldnt sell nearly enough for them to be happy with it.

HD updates cannot be done for games pre 6th gen( view exceptions). The assets/technology are just to old. It would end up being just a remake

*fixed that for you.

There are no parallels between the recent remasters and a possible FFVII remake. While a FFX remake costs like half a cent, a FFVII remake has to be remade from the ground up. It will never happen for 2 reasons.

1. It costs money.

2. No one will ever be satisfied with it.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Very different situation with all of those games.

FFX HD is not a remake, its a HD remaster. Reason why we get HD remasters of PS2 games and not PS1 is because PS1 games are all readily available to downloaded and I believe even the newest PS3 systems were still compatible for them, on top of that PS1 games look ugly as F*ck. A remaster is not what people really mean when they clammer for FFVII to be remade, they mean they want a entirely remade game with whatever visuals are the norm for those days probably with full voice acting and performance.

With Type 0 HD, it exist because otherwise they were stuck with a game they had already completed but (stupidly) felt as if they couldn't make money from it stateside because the PSP was dead. Now its closer to what you would consider a remake but even then its visibly an updated PSP game. Again it wouldn't satisfy those looking for a remake.

Finally to remake FFVII in all its glory would essentially be the same cost and a similar length of time to a new Final Fantasy minus a year or so of pre production and design.

To respond to your question though, I would be surprised if they didn't do some kind of repacking of the ''golden era'' of final fantasy (VII, VIII, IX) but I can't see full on remakes with modern production values.

Yeah, I don't know if that particularly needs to be in HD.

The PC version decided to add mouths. Something to laugh at -  after Serphiroth Kills Aerith his mouth is open whole entire time ... Like a blow face. completely kills the scene buy funny as hell

Well, they showed us what a remake would look like almost 10 years ago. Now they're just being dicks saying "we can only make it if we know the demand is there".....even though it's been heavily demanded since that tech demo. They had the assets to begin making an FFVII remake in 2005. Meanwhile, they remake (not remaster) FFIII and FFIV on the DS, and those were NES and SNES games originally. Nobody asked for those, yet they had no problem making them. FFVII, on the other hand, is the most popular one in the series and has had a remake demanded for almost a decade and SE is "worried about the demand being there".

But, I guess we should understand by now that SE is quite illogical.

Not really, this is SE we are talking about so..
