Forums - Sony Discussion - PSN Plus price increases "slightly" in South Africa

I understand why they have done this... its business (of course the merits of it from a marketing perspective are debatable)

BUT

to say "slightly" when referring to a 53% increase in the official communication is ignorant, insulting and downright dumb.

I think it hurts in brand loyalty department.. if I was in SA I would be thinking: "f that, whats stopping them to increase it again next year"..especially when multiplayer started out free on playstation

They shouldn't complain if they were paying less than everyone else before.

I don't care about multiplayer, so am I the only one that use PS+ just for the free games, and discounts? lol. This only effects COD, Battlefield, and Destiny players right?

What? Really? The price just went up by more than 50%, why would they care what other countries have to pay for it. That's like saying Americans shouldn't care if the price of petrol (gas) went up to European levels because that's what they have to pay for it.

They should care, but the people they should be complaining to is their government, whose fiscal and economic policies have led to the collapse of their currency. Its not Sony's job to subsidise the lifestyle of South Africans when there economy can no longer support said lifestyle.

But since when do we pay the same prices around the world? My 2 liter Coca Cola is probably more expensive then yours.. Just like Bread, milk, cheerios and everything else.. Or do you think that Sony will lower the price when the currency gains strenght again?

They'll lower the price if they feel it makes them more money to lower it (through increased sales), otherwise they won't. You actually make my point for me, prices across the world vary, based on the cost of doing business and what the market will bear. In this instance, does it make sense that a small market like SA with its restrictive labor laws, geographic isolation and high business taxes would have lower prices than places like the EU or US?
