I find the rise of UKIP to be quite remarkable.

Love him or hate him, you have to respect him. Nigel Farage is the John Cena of British Politics, without the backing of Vince McMahon (Murdoch, in this case).

Respect a racist drunk?

I garuntee 90% of the people who vote UKIP dont actually know their policies regarding things like education, healthcare and public services.

They just vote for them because of "bloody immigrants" and because he enjoys a pint down the pub whilst on the job.

That racist drunk has just won the European Elections and his party just won its first seat in parliament... Despite the constant (bullshit) from the media that he is a racist and runs a racist, homophobic party.

People arent stupid, which is why its absolutely hilarious to sit at the side of the ring watching the far-left mouthpieces try to badmouth him while he just walks along gaining more and more voters on a daily basis.

Can you tell me why/ how Nigel Farage is a racist?

hmm.... It might be comments like this that make him seem just a little bit racist -

"I was asked ‘if a group of Romanian men moved in next to you, would you be concerned?’ And if you lived in London, I think you would be.”

On top of this, he has also made remarks which are insulting to women as well. Stating that they are "worth less" than men

Is that the kind of leader you want?

:

I shall be voting UKIP.

He says he made those comments in regards to Romanian organised crime, which he states is a pretty big problem all over the EU...

When we see the full context of his (stupid) comments, its understandable why he said it. I wouldnt say it was racist, just him pushing the anti-EU stance to the absolute limit.

I dont want Farage running the country. I just like the man because he is honest, unlike the other leaders who lie everytime they speak.

Lol clearly this poll result bears no resemblance to reality in Britain in general. And of course "other" has a high proportion because people like me (who don't live in the UK) have to chose it in order to see the results. Why do so many people fail with polls like this by not providing an option for people who can't make a substantive vote?

Anyway the chance of the UKIP getting 29% and thus the highest vote percent is nil. So it's either troll votes or the Brits on here are and unusually extreme bunch.

Probably voting Labour to try and oust the c***s.

But really a green supporter. However I'm in a safe Labour constituency so there's no green candidate (maybe me in 2020?) and after the coalition I wouldn't piss on the Lib Dems if they were on fire.

This is false, after a pretty quick and easy Google search there is a page full of policies. Some are EU focused, some have nothing to do with immigration/ EU.

Then they need to talk about them. There was a small interview with a young UKIP member on Radio 1 about a week ago, the interviewer said 'A lot of people want to know about your other policies that aren't about Immigration?' (or somewhere near this) and he replied 'We are more than immigration.' and a little more but didn't actually go into what.

If they want to be thought as a party about more than just Xenophobia, they need to show it.

Hmm, pie.

People want change so they'll vote UKIP? A party ran by a career politician of 15 years, who is a privately educated former city stockbroker? A party increasingly staffed by former Conservatives of every level? A party bankrolled by former Conservative grandees? Farage is an exellent politician in that he's crafted the "honest bloke at the pub" image superbly, but he's no different to Cameron, Clegg or Miliband: he's just been able to outsmart them and take advantage of the powerful public apathy towards politics. Salmond did exactly the same in Scotland: appealed to emotion and nationalism. Salmond and Farage are as much a part of the political establishment as any other career politician in the UK, they're just using people's rightful apathy and anger to hide that fact.

I expect UKIP will poll fairly well, but they'll struggle to win more than half a dozen seats because their vote will be spread out across the country and not concentrated in certain constituencies. Like the Lib Dem's rise last time, which played off of anti-politics sentiment, 25% of the popular vote wasn't enough to get even 10% of the seats in Parliament. UKIP, with a less established electioneering engine, won't be able to target enough seats properly to maximise their vote.

Given public apathy, and the rise of nationalist parties in this country, whether at UK wide or in Scotland, there needs to be real change. There should have been a move towards change when the Scottish independence referendum finished. Instead we're getting the same old narrow party interest put ahead of the long-term interests of this country and the people in it. We need electoral and systematic political change, and I don't see anyone really offering that.

I'm voting for Plaid Cymru because I live in a Welsh constituency, and I think that they're the only party that genuinely make the case for Wales and what's best for Wales within the UK and EU.

I agree 100%.
