Forums - Sales Discussion - Destiny PS4 beats Titanfall sales on XB1 after only 1 week vs Titanfall's many months!

In regards to "Hype" Both Titanfall and Destiny were hyped.. but just differently.

Destiny was hyped because it can be seen by many as the spiritual successor to Halo since it's a Bungie game. Titanfall on the other hand was advertised as an Xbox exclusive and was thought to "revolutionize" the genre and become the first TRUE next gen game (Hilariously, X360 handled it no problem!)

At least Destiny had a good reason to be hyped unlike Titanfall which was developed by a newly formed studio.

But the problem with Destiny is the final game is too much like the beta!

We didn't get the ambitious project they promised. We got the beta with a few more areas to explore, more tedious missions, and a higher level cap.

I'm still waiting for a good story at par with their work on Halo. Maybe that will be free DLC. :-p

This is a small sumary of the story... if you want more you need to read the Grimories.

And yes... there is a lot more coming.

Yeah... I know. That's part of our issue with the final product. Bungie should have told us the story wasn't in the game, its on the web.

While the product on the disc is all about the loot.

I agree... that was one of the flaws... I found the way to tell you the Destiny's background was really bad and get worst when you can't even access it ingame.

BTW few people knows but the Grimorie shows all the stats you have in the game too and the bonus you will get (ex. after 50 Strikes you start to receive more rewards... or after x things the resource in the planet get better... etc).

well the ps4 has twice the user base as the bone so................this would be impressive with destiny selling 2x TF numbers or more.

look at it from a percentage stand point.

about 20% of ps4 owners are interested in destiny

and around 40% of xbox 1 owners are interested in Titan fall. so chances are if titan fall was a multi plat, destiny would have a hard time climbing that hill.

what should be compared is xb1 destiny vs xb1 titan fall.

The beta showed all your claims.

- You can progresse enough in the Beta... the final game is the same just he level cap is not 8 but 20.
- It is the same history of the Beta... just got bigger.
- The same voice acting.
- It is the Beta + the three others planets already knewn lol

Nah, per usual when it comes to Destiny you're incorrect. You're just as wrong here as you were in the other thread when you didn't know what grinding or farming were.

Are you telling me you were able to get light points and equip legendaries and exotics and stuff in the beta? No, no, and no. Were you able to realize how they would limit your progression through the game via weapon upgrades and limit your ability to progress through vanguard with weekly mark limits? No. Would you have any idea from the beta that armor would require shards that they would limit your ability to get in order to artificially extend play time? No. Hell, I find it incredibly funny that you're arguing that you can see basically the entirety of how a loot games mechanics work in a short beta that features less than 1/3 of the entire level cap and 1/4 of the skill tree. You're making my case about how broken the loot and progression mechanics are without even knowing it. Thanks!

You barely touch the story in the beta. There were basically 3 full planets of story left to be told. No way for us to know they are all shit.

There was no way for us to know what content was in the final game based on the beta. Just because there are 4 planets doesn't mean there is the same amount of content on each. This is extremely basic logic and for you to argue it tells me you're either too fargone to be taken seriously in this discussion or just pulling my leg. I think you'll just argue against whatever we say about Destiny for the sake of arguing. For example, here you'll say there is no grind in Destiny and you like the way drops and loot works. On the other forum some of you frequent you talk about having to break down Queen gear over and over for the shards because it's the best way to get them. aka grinding, and a flawed loot system. So yeah, not going to bother responding to you on this anymore.

And some people seem confused and keep replying saying "Xbox fans" are downplaying Destiny sales as not an accomplishment. No one said that. A new IP to sell well is an accomplishment and great for the industry. For it to outsell a game that launched on a console with a userbase like 1/3 of its size at the time... you guys saying it's an incredible accomplishment either:

A. Had zero expectations for Destiny. Must have thought it would sell 42 copies.
B. Had higher expectations for Titanfall than Zampella ever did in his wildest, wettest dreams. It might have supposedly been Xbox fans "Xbone savior", but for some of you it was apparently set to cure cancer and feed the worlds hungry judging by these hyperbole laced responses :)

Basically this. The Kinectless X1 was not out at the time and getting Titanfall for free with an X1 + Kinect was the best deal. Meanwhile, you either had to pay the full $60 for the standalone game or an extra $50 with the PS4 bundle.

down playing?

if you have vanilla ice cream to sell at a party were there are 11 people attending. and you sell 3 cones.

your brother worked another lame party with only 5 guest and sell 2 chocolate cones...

Does that mean your vanilla was more desirable because you sold one more.........the fact that you had more people to sell to didn't matter at all?

couldn't be, because even though you didn't have chocolate to sell, your brother had chocolate and vanilla and he only managed to sell 1 vanilla cone to his five guest.

Seems like chocolate was more desirable to his guest than vanilla. So we can make a general assumption that had you had chocolate available to sell, you'd probably managed to sell more than 3.

As we move the reference to multi plat games, most cases the trends are the same throughout all gamers despite 1 faction preferring MS and the other preferring Sony, multi plats that sell more than other on one console in term sell more than the other on the next console.

Example

cod > battle field > assasins creed  That scale would be the same both on xb1 and ps4......

well damn, thats as much as I can break it down....

Hypocritical, really, the people talking about userbase. People have made similar arguments about the Wii U vs PS4 or Xbox One, and it's always been brushed aside by either of the two camps.
