I don't believe in the PS5 and XB2 being a reality. For various reasons I think the PS5 will be virtual instead of hardware, and Microsoft is already gunning for digital distribution.

Nintendo is the only one who really benefits from having hardware in the game, especially since the PS4 and XB1 met such diffculty in being cost effective yet be limited in power.

So in light of some threads I've seen its occured to me, that a Partnership between Microsoft and Sony on gaming, somekind of PlayStation + Xbox hybrid could be just as possible if not more so than a Microsoft + Nintendo partnership.

Especially considering the current situation.

Not to mention, Microsoft vs Sony is just a fabrication made in the heads of certain fans.

Poll included for the lols.

I promise I'll try harder on the next thread.

Nintendo and Sony has a higher chance of happening, they did make the PlayStation together.

Or, how about Playstation Service for Windows? It will be like steam, just with exclusive games!

Square and EA already had a partnership too.

Hmm, a transition to a streaming service would be interesting but I'd rather have a new piece of hardware when the ninth gen begins. Steam & Sony would be my pick but that seems too much of a dream lol.

There will be more console generations ;)

VR will be included in the next gen.

MS could be a software company in games again... Sony and Nintendo will be the players with maybe a new one.

You mean Playstation Now, which already exists?

Sony is better of partnering with Apple to get its games and streaming service on those hundreds of millions of iPhones and tens of millions of iPads.

streaming is inevitable and specific hardware won't be required.

Until we break the speed of light, active and fast paced gaming on streaming will be a crapshoot. (Not to mention how terrible the infrastructure is the world over for this to be even remotely viable, it will take decades to bring this up to snuff.)

I do think this will probably be Microsofts last gen as a console hardware manufacturer. I think they'll sell off Xbox to someone like Samsung, and keep a few of their devs to work as third parties.
