Forums - Movies & TV - Your top: 5 movies of all time. And reason why.

StarWars.
Cheesy by today's standards. I was 13 when it came out in 77. The buzz it created was insane. No movie has that impact on me since. I have seen better movies. Not much different than Harry Potter is to kids now.

The Dark Knight
LotR: Fellowship of the Ring
Star Wars Ep II (What of it?)

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

1. The Patriot - beautiful music by John Williams (favourite movie score ever!), great acting and I watched it at a memorable time of my life, so each time I revisit the movie I feel like I'm revisiting that part of my life!

2. Star Wars - cannot pick a single one from the original trilogy, so I will just say Star Wars. Masterpiece.

3. The Fellowship of the Ring - this movie is what made me discover my favourite actor, Sean Bean (IMO deserved an Oscar nom for supporting)! Boromir's death scene is IMO the most tragic death scene in film, it brought me to tears.

4. Forrest Gump - it is just so good.

5. Tie between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (I hated Rises). I couldn't pick between the two. Bale's Batman became my favourite and the origin story in Begins was so well done. Ledger's Joker is one of the best performances I have ever seen.

Five of my favorite films with one sentence of commentary to hopefully interest you; assuming you haven't seen them.

1. Seven
Detectives Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman face Kevin Spacey in a riveting cat-and-mouse game -- but who is the cat and who is the mouse?

2. The Empire Strikes Back
After upstart rebel forces destroy the Death Star, Empire forces hit back -- hard.

3. The Dark Knight
A lone man terrorizes Gotham and assassinates numerous men including the beloved district attorney; with a city on the brink who is there to give them hope -- who do they deserve?

4. Fight Club
An insomniac unhappy with his life embarks on a quest of self-discovery -- literally.

5. 12 Angry Men
When a young New York man is alleged to have murdered his father it's up to twelve jurors to decide his fate -- is there enough evidence to implicate him, and if there is, do they have it in them to sentence him to death?

Quickly my favorite animated films...
1. Princess Mononoke
2. Toy Story
3. Finding Nemo
4. Cowboy Bebop: The Movie
5. The Lion King

"On my business card I am a corporate president. In my mind I am a game developer. But in my heart I am a gamer." - Satoru Iwata

1.- American Beauty
2- The Shawshank Redemption
3.- Memento
4.- Dead Poets Society
5.- The Fight Club

These are my favorite ones.

Just 5?? I think I can't

1. Jurassic Park - for the nostalgia factor
2. Alien - a perfect horror movie
3. Dazed & Confused - high school stoner classic
4. Requiem for a Dream - total headfuck
5. Lord of the Rings trilogy - an epic trilogy done right

I consciously decided not to repeat anyone else's choice though it was tempting with the Exorcist so I replaced it with the Conjuring.

1. Sin City
2. Kung Fu Hustle
3. Black Swan
4. Conjuring
5. Schindler's list

Has anyone else seen Kung Fu Hustle? It's Stephen Chow. Foreign movie but a fantastic amalgamation of comedy and action.

1) Pulp Fiction - Excellent characters, excellent dialogue. I remember quotes verbatim. Made me a Tarantino fan.
2) The Departed - Great performances by Leo DiCaprio and Jack Nicholson, but maybe a bit too much swearing. Made me a fan of Scorsese and crime films in general.
3) Good Will Hunting - Has an original and interesting story. And of course, excellent acting.
4) The Godfather - I was captivated by Brando, Pacino, Duvall, and Caan. I enjoyed it more than Part II.
5) Taxi Driver - Classic Robert DeNiro, what else can I say?

Honourable Mentions: Unforgiven, Saving Private Ryan, Mystic River, GoodFellas, Gladiator, No Country for Old Men

I enjoyed Harry Potter back in the day. Now I think is satanic propaganda to make sorcery a mainstream cool thing.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.
