Here Is How the Gamepad is Used in Xenoblade Chronicles X

In a recent interview with Edge, Xenoblade Chronicles X executive producer Tetsuya Takahashi revealed how the gamepad would be implemented into the new Wii U title. In short, it looks like the gamepad is going to be used in the same way as in many other games: as a navigational device. The gamepad will also house some other interface features.

“We decided that it would be perfect to use as a navigation device, in the same way that a lot of tablet computers are. We’ve put some important features relating to the game system and your objectives onto the GamePad, so I feel that this should create a very user-friendly experience for players.”

Xenoblade Chronicles X is currently slated for release later next year. Will you be picking this title up when it launches for the Wii U? Make sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Sounds like a bunch of basic map features most games should offer with the Gamepad, and maybe even more.

And your objectives.
Nice, maybe all the sidequesting will be much more managable this time

What they should do is use it as command input in combat. That would greatly improve the speed since you won't have to scroll through the abilities anymore

But I only have 2 hands =P

Seriously though I dont want to have to take my hand off the gamepad each time I want to select my attack and Im not holding it with 1 hand for an entire fight.

They could position the touch areas close to the thumbs.

What they also could do is make combat completely controllable via touch. Like tracing your finger to move and tap on enemies to attack. Though that way you wouldn't be able to look at the big screen anymore^^

Sounds pretty nice. Basic map system as well as the inventory, as most other games should (and do) offer too.

Imagine if Skyrim was easy to set up quest on.

They really need to do something about the character's faces... Like jeez, they look ugly
