Sony hadn't had MGS, GoW, GT, and many more of its biggest franchises and above all else it was the MOST expensive and ridiculously priced at first. WiiU is already the cheapest console of the gen and has fired most of its biggest bullets (3d and 2d Mario, Mario Kart, DK, Wii Fit, and more) and yet still hasn't really shifted into good sales.

Edit: Do you mean late bloomer as in will sell ~ 30 million because it's baseline will increase a bit, or late bloomer as in will do more than 50 million because its baseline would increase madly?

Why is 60k weekly a bad number?

First of all it's overtracked. second of all, because it is the Us second year, yet it's tracking just slightly above the weekly sales of the PS3, a last gen console, third of all, it's tracking behind the gamecube, and we all know how that went.

You think the Wii U will sell more than 50 million? -_-  I'm pretty sure it's baseline won't increase to 120k ever.

Yeah but you know whats the good part about this? The console will get even cheaper!

And calling that the biggest bullets is just wrong. DK never had a chance to move hardware and the "3D" Mario is not what people wanted.

Wii Fit obviously doesn't sell anymore because the casual time is over!

MK8 and NSMBU were the only big bullets yet, the other ones never really had a chance.

Just wait for Smash, Zelda U and Metroid! Those will be the real big bullets.

The PS3 also started at 60k weekly sales at the beginning, until it bloomed. What makes you so sure that can't happen to the U?


Have you bothered to check your facts? in the PS3s first year (equivalent to last year for the Wii U) it had a baseline of ~90k Vs the Wii Us 30k, despite it costing twice as much. In the second year it was doing 130-150k VS the Wii Us 60k (though that's only post MK,  while before that it was 30k).

Yes. I'm looking at the hardware graph and between the dates of Jan 13th and Jul 7th 2007, it sits at roughly 60k.


No, It averages roughly 80k. so 10k less than I thought, but still way more than the Wii Us 30k. You do know that if you want the PS3s second year sales (as the Wii Uis in its second year currently) you'll have to look at 2008 sales?

It can be, potentially, but super-negative cranky asses and ultra fanboys on the internet, don't want to believe in that possibility.

Anything is still technically possible at this point in the gen.
