What Does This Mean with the "New 3DS/XL" in Terms of Lifetime Sales?

I mean 3ds was obviously trending down, especially with the drop YoY. But now with this new model, things can change!

Imo the 3ds was going to sell 55mil-60mil lifetime, but with this announcement i think it has potential to now do close to 80mil! 

Your thoughts? Also does this mean we actually wont get the nxt Handheld Anytime soon? Definitely not coming in 2015, i doubt 2016 either!

Yeah it will certainly help sales. I think 3DS will sell 65m lifetime.
A successor will probably come in 2017.

Nah. Sales will stay the same and there will be a new system in 2016. It's honestly just rudimentary upgrades. The bumpers and c stick already exist with the circle pad pro, and the improved 3D screen is as expected as the GBA SP's backlight. The only really significant thing is the boost in CPU. I think we'll only see a few games that usilize that and this is really just weaning people into what will eventually be featured on the 3DS successor in the same way the DSi weaned people onto the 3DS.

The GBC  WAS a seperate console, the New 3ds is still a 3ds

New 3DS/XL comes out in 2015 (just japan in 2014) and yu think a successor is coming right after it? I doubt a successor to 3ds comes out in 2016.

Also looking at the New 3DS, notice it has the same button layout as the wiiu now? Yeap, New WiiU coming and this will be a prototype to the next gen HW
