No I don't see it, Nintendo has to sell amiibo toys this holiday.

They will ship Smash with missing characters/stages and introduce those as free DLC if need be rather than delaying the game. That would be too drastic of a measure to take.

Zelda being move into 2016 is a bit of a different story because Nintendo may want it as a dual release to launch their next handheld with (could be around this time), so there's motivation to do so there, there's no gain for Nintendo delaying Smash out of this holiday window. 

Nintendo can not afford for smash not to come to wii u this year. Amiibos will only work with smash this year and if they want it to be big they need it coming this year.

Or maybe Nintendo is just seeing potential? I for one will be downloading the new stuff: it's reasonably priced and features new character/track additions from disparate series.

The game is complete, they are just debugging it, it should be ready for november, like Mario Kart 8 was ready like 2 months before launch.

NOt a chance. The only thing that these DLCs confirmed is that there wont be any releases in May 2015.

It'd be devestation for them, especially since Amiibo will be hobbled if they can't get it out for the holidays too.
