Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan Sales Week 33 (August 11 - 17) - Hyrule Warriors first week sales

SK2 with poor second week too, very concerning now and need to really bounce back with EV.

Congratulation with Kong for have win the bet.

Thanks, I was really starting to doubt whether I'd got it right :)

Also, for those interested in the WiiU effect on Hyrule Warriors:

Dynasty Warriors 8 (PS3) - 212,798 / 337,774

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii) - 198,719 / 365,922

Hyrule Warriors (WiiU) - 78,773 / NEW

it will be interesting to see what kind of drop Hyrule Warriors has next week

usually Musou games drop down in sales very quickly, yet Nintendo games tend to have good legs - I wonder how this one will do

Zelda games don't have good legs though in Japan, iirc.

Thats not true.

Not recent console Zeldas at least

WW HD more than Tripled FW, thats legs bro. SS is one of the few that didnt have legs, why not get a comparison on every LoZ of last gen and current to be more fair?

This Gen...

WW HD  30k FW ~ 105k+ Lifetime   (Legs)

ALBW  224k FW ~ 411k+ Lifetime   (Ok Legs)

OoT 3D  166k FW ~ 569k+ Lifetime  (Amazing Legs)

Last Gen...

SS  198k FW ~ 365k Lifetime

TP  146k FW ~ 596k Lifetime

ST  306k FW ~ 740k Lifetime

PH 304k FW ~ 950k Lifetime

We had this discussion + Kresnik about legs. Doubling FW is not having legs. That's a selling pretty poorly after the FW (there are outliers with game with huge FWs, but this is true for 99% of games). OoT 3D had some legs, PH had some legs, so did TP (it's a launch title so the data is very skewed).

At this point, it make not fall completely until the shipment sells out. I would be shocked it doesn't get discounted soon.

I'm somewhat dissapointed by HW's debut. Wii U is solid, 3DS good, the rest fairly weak.

I think it's been long enough to let me make a minor correction:

It's Media Create, not Media Crate.

Oops, sorry for the typo!

Ah, it's fine. Now, for my comments:

Since console sales obviously got boosts due to Obon Week (and Zelda Musou in the case of the Wii U), i think it's right to focus on the games:

(1)(1)[3DS]Youkai Watch 2: Crazy numbers. It might actually top worldwide charts unless I'm missing a certain PS4 release. 3 million+ by end-2014, that's for sure.

(2)(2)[NWU]Zelda Musou: Not half-bad. It's better than what I predicted for it, which is ~50-60k. The small Wii U boost is something to expect, though.

(3)(4)[3DS]Yoshi's New Island: I'm just shaking my head at the numbers this continues to post. Didn't a free game campaign skew the numbers slightly, though?

(4)(5)[NWU]Mario Kart 8: I'm betting this'll cross 1.2 million in Japan alone by end-2014. I'm calling it!

(10)(9)[3DS]Senran Kagura 2: These figures might just be prodding Marvelous to have a quicker turnaround time between JP release and NA/PAL release.

(NI)(27)[PSV]Clannad: I WANT THIS. Visual novels don't have the audience regular literature does, though. Should I watch the anime instead?

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:3

Disappointing for Hyrule. Good Wii U sales though. Keeps outselling the PS4 of late in one region, not bad!

Wow so many comments so quickly for JP sales
Anyway, Zelda Musou did nicely. Wouldnt say its a huge success but definitely didnt sell poorly, probably one of the best Musou openings on a Nintendo console.
Youkai Watch is just being Youkai Watch, nothing new.
MHFG on Vita well above what I had expected which is good to see, sure digital sales are strong on this one aswell.
Senran Kagura Flop's 2nd week is appualing, it needs to hold that number for a long while now to even think about selling well.

Was basically spot on with Media Create on Hyrule Warriors.

Said it would 68k in the prediction thread.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

Good numbers for Nintendo this week.
