Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft did it again, shows PC version at Xbox One stand - GamesCom

So what do people assume here? That the game won't come on Xbox? Or that it won't look as good as the pc counterpart?
Why they did it? Same reasons as others did before: showing the game before it's ready on console. Don't be fools to imply more to this case than there is. The game is a beuatiful 2d game but in no way really demanding so expect a good looking game looking the same on PC and console.

We've also had confirmation from people playing Forza Horizon 2 that it's also running on PC. People have witnessed the game blue screen but nobody has taken a picture as MS employees were very quick to turn off screens etc. I think I'll wait before I buy FH2 just to make sure the quality is the same as they have been showing off!

Aren't all games at these shows running on PC's?

You can't be sure. But in the end it makes no difference. I know that Bloodborne ran on PS4 because it locked the console up a few times and the Sony guys had to reset the PS4.

Well, the demo I played was the same that was on e3 so it was a rather old build which means nothing to the state the game currently is in.

As for taking pictures: Sony and MS didn't want anyone to take pictures of anything. I was told I wasn't allowed to take pictures off Journey (!!)...

Excuse my laziness, but I'm assuming that in the last 4 pages, someone already stated that Batman: AK was shown at the Sony conference at E3 using PC footage...

If not, here: http://www.dsogaming.com/news/confirmed-batman-arkham-knights-demo-during-sonys-conference-was-running-on-pc/

So I hope this isn't all about how MS is the culprit here, hahaha

Batman is a fully multiplatform games when Ori and the Blind forest is Xbox + PC, so semi exclusive (even if it's probably going to released on PS4 later like Titanfall and Ryse). And they certainly didn't show fake PS4s running for nothing under the screen...

It's exactly like the way they spinned the Tomb raider timed exclusive, they tried to make it like it was fully exclusive, even after when people knew it has a "duration", they still tried to confuse people with their statements just by using the word "duration" instead of "first release on Xbox" or "timed exclusive" like Sony do for, honestly, for all its timed exclusives.

They alienate people by doing this, even if a minority still believe firmly them, it's not good for their brand perception among the public, in the long term.

PC, PS4, XBOne, what's the difference? Ah, yes, pay online, silly me. That shrewd MS, it did it to avoid paying XBL!

But is a trailer running the pc build and a demo center dressed to look like it's running from the actual console, when it isnt, really comparable?

You must be part of the Sony defense force

Seriously, though, what part of "SONY" conference, and the fact that the BUTTON PROMPTS for the Batman: AK gameplay demo shown were PlayStation Dualshock buttons makes it any different than what MS did?!  "Oh, but they weren't PHYSICALLY displaying the PS4"...  Come on, now...

This is the same stuff Nintendo goes through.  When Sony does it, "oh that's just how it is", but when MS does it "wow, MS fails".

*sigh*  Can't you people just enjoy the games and not create bash threads?!?!

Do people really not get that Xbox One games are developed on Windows workstations?

I believe the game is running on a dev unit.  The Nvidia graphics card kind of give it away since that is what MS dev unit actually use.  Also the game is unfinished so the developer probably didnt waste time putting it on an X1.

When a game is unfinished, I believe they just leave them running on the dev kit because its probably the most stable build. Nothing make you look foolish when a game keep crashing especially if its part of a presentation.

The difference is that Batman is a multiplatform game and they never put fake PS4s under the screen demoing batman.

And the fact that it's not the first time Microsoft do this trick with fake XB1s under their exclusive-ish game. Sony never did that, never.

For instance, at the E3, one of the biggest game of the show, Far cry 4 at Sony's stands was the only Ubisoft AAA game really running on a console, here several genuine PS4s when AC Unity at Microsoft was running on PC but at least Ubisoft did not put false XB1s under the AC Unity screens.

EDIT: for instance Bloodborne apparently was running on genuine PS4 hardware (thank you Walsufnir!)
