Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Someone has to say...Nintendo needs a phone

The majority of Nintendo's handheld sales, at least in Japan in not elsewhere, are to kids whose parents don't want them to have a mobile phone yet. There just isn't a market for a Nintendo phone - I can't see them competing with Apple and Samsung.

Yes, Nintendo is definitely going to have to start incorporating innovations to compete with the mobile market. This isn't just limited to handhelds, the home console market has taken a major hit as well. Consoles are selling no where near as much this generation as they have been over the past two gens.

That's like that N-Gage thing. It won't work at all. You can't mix phones with gaming efficiently, sadly.

That's not a very good example at all. N-Gage did everything wrong, it was a terrible phone and a terrible handheld. I doubt Nintendo would make those mistakes. The industry has advanced significantly since that time. What you are saying is the same as saying look at CD-I, clearly you can't mix disks and consoles, cartridges are the only option.

It would probably have as much success as the Xperia Play, so not much.

I'm talking about combining a phone with a handheld. It doesn't work even if you do it right.

Someone has to say...No!!!

Nintendo phone is a bad idea. I am a big nintendo fan and buy every console, but no way would i buy a nintendo phone. I have and love my iphone amd i dont want to go android, no doubt the os that a nintendo phone would have to be based off. nintendos next handheld prob should go down the tablet road

This is a great idea, a Nintendo Phone

with a Ubuntu OS would be great

that would be the ONLY way i buy a nintendo phone, simply because of the gaming buttons. the phone can not be carrier exclusive though

I disagree. They need to make mobile games but not phones.

Nope. It would just be underpowered with a paltry selection of games.
