Forums - Website Topics - Why aren't we allowed to bash systems/games on a sales competition website?

It's a matter of respect.

And this isn't a sales competition site. It's a sales tracking site. A competition would suggest VGC and its members are involved in the selling.

And you've pretty much just stated that you like to troll. Bashing to you is only fun because of the rise you incite from others. Otherwise, you wouldn't do it.

As for the N4G articles, those are automatically populated. They are also not members of this forum. It's external content.

Even if automatically generated most of their news are flaming/trolling and their community is root... So maybe we could have a different external provider? But that is up to ioi.

Because it doesn't incite meaningful conversation. This site would just be another IGN, Youtube, or N4G if they allowed pointless comments like Xbot, Pony, etc........

I think it is quite entertaining how some people trying to work around these rules and get banned eventually anyway.

Yup. Breaking the rules is breaking the rules. Doing it blatantly is nice and easy to do something about, but if you continue to do it in a more subtle way over and over again then you will be moderated. It's something that we're trying to clamp down on more to try and maintain a healthy, friendly level of discussion.

And that's why it should be obvious, OP, why such name calling is not allowed. There's been plenty of suggestions here as to why that is, and I agree with most of them. But for me it boils down to what I wrote above; if such comments were allowed then the quality of discussion would devolve and it wouldn't be as nice a site to visit as it is now. Could you imagine if people got a free pass for calling users xbots or sony ponies in an insulting manner? Sounds awful to me.

Similarly the N4G stuff is randomly generated. I'd advise asking ioi about that, nothing we can do. Good luck.

Regardless, this is mod criticism to me and some of the comments here fall under the same catergory. We have a thread for things like this where we like to hear constructive criticism and feedback, please use that in the future.

For now, as you have your answer, this thread will be locked.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
