Wii didn't have terrible legs so much as PS2 had really good ones. Wii's life was much like PS1's and other gen leaders before. Gen 7 was like two gens, where first people jumped from PS2 to Wii and then from Wii to PS360 when they (and HDTV's) became cheaper.

I don't think so. Wii grabbed an entirely new audience for the most part. I reckon Wii's install base is lodskool Nintendo fans (~25 million), blue bcean one generation wonders (~65 million), PS2 owners (~10 million) Xbox owners (~2 million). PS360 more or less shared the PS2box user base equally, with that 12 million who went to Wii going back to PS360 late in the generation, and some of the blue ocean going to 360 when Kinect because the new casual craze, in the USA.

Even though the SNES is my favorite console of all time, the PS2 is a close 2nd place! The PS2 was an awesome console that offered something for everyone!

Yeah...not really, the PS1 sold for 10 years and still sold over 6 million in the same year in its life that the Wii is now in. Let's not act as if it was any different, the Wii did in fact have terrible legs.

For now, PS4 have sold more than PS2, and little less than Wii... And the people still think that PS4 don't break 100 million hahahahaha, lol...
Oh come on, PS4 will sell MINIMUM 120,000,000, and this is bad prediction.

P.S

I'm Nintendaro, but between PS2 and Wii, PS2 for life.

Yes, the PS2's legs are really something. It even sold like a 'regular' console would during a whole generation after the one it was intended for, a feat probably no console will ever replicate. Can't deny that achievement and what it's done for gaming. Wii was amazing at first, taking a huge lead, but the drop off in the last years is painful to see.

Wii at least still has a chance to beat the PS1 if it stays on for a year more, I'm not saying it will though. And no, I don't mean VGC's incorrect 104m number, but the real 102.49m number.

Wrong.

PS1:

Their sales curves are almost identical.  Wii sold slightly quicker and peaked in year 3 instead of year 4.  But Wii's year 4 was the same as PS1's.  Year 5 was similar at 18 mil vs 15 mil.  Year 6 saw Wii sell 10 vs PS1's 9. Year 7 is similar.  It isn't until year 8 that PS1 gets much of an edge, and it lasts for about a year before it too dies.  So Wii and PS1 have almost the same sales curve with Wii having a bigger year 2 and 3 while PS1 maintained relevance for about 1 more year.

Yeah Wii won't even reach PS1 numbers. Funny because in 2007 Ninty fans claimed it would sell 200 million.

John Lucas /= Nintendo fans.

Yeah, you're ignoring a little something here: the PS2.

The Wii had sold 80% of its lifetime numbers at the end of 2010 (calendar year not fiscal) with its successor still 2 years of, the PS1 had shipped just over 70% of its lifetime numbers at the end of FY 99 when the PS2 was already out in Japan. The PS1 continued to sell 30 million more units with the PS2 already on the market, the Wii only managed to sell 20mil (not even 4mil since the launch of the Wii U) more even though the Wii U didn't come out for 2 more years.
