Forums - Sales Discussion - An obvious and boring prediction so i used italics

with respect to italics..

certainly 13 33.33%

maybe 6 15.38%

nope 20 51.28%

Total:39

Probably not. At least Halo 5 will break the current streak and then they'll have to do it all over again for 3 years and who knows how many gears and Halos happen in that time. X360 only managed to do this by completely dominating the PS3 in US. The PS4 is currently not even close to dominating the X1 in US. It's pretty much still head to head. PS4 currently only has a 20% lead while 360 had most of the time a lead from 80-100% on the PS3.

I'd say this is a rather bold prediction than italics.

Your obvious prediction will probably be right. On other words I'm considering skipping this gen especially since I've seen a ton of people saying a new console may be coming in just two years. That's too short and not worth my money.

MS and Sony will probably drag this gen out forever again.   maybe not nintendo but i don't think third parties will be clamoring for new hardware any time soon when current hardware performance out-performs their ability to create games that say within a reasonable budget.

Most people want games running at 60fps, 1080p this gen and if peoples wallets demand it they will get it. We all know these consoles can't deliver that. Anyways this gen is sort off like filler, everything being done this gen could be replicated on  last gen minus the slightly fancier graphics.

specifically because game development cycles have jumped from 2 to 3-4 year cycles making it too cost prohibitive to not be multiplatform on everything possible.  if MSony announced to developers new hardware today the first game for it couldn't possibly appear until 2020.    this is going to be a hell of a long cycle.

nope.  by then xbox will be a lost cause by then.

actually,.  the math says 50% lead in june which was xbox's price drop month.  that is beyond domination.  wait for july,.. you'll see your 80 to 100% lead on xbox.

I think the xbox one will beat the ps4 a couple times in NPD. Depending on when Halo MCC and LBP3 releases, xbox one MIGHT get that month's NPD. But I'm not really sure when either come out.

Can't wait until this thread gets bumped when the PS4 loses a NPD!

Who are these "most people" exactly? People you see on internet forums who like to rant? The average gamer does not even know what 1080p is nor the difference between 60 and 30fps. I would bet anything that Sony won't release a console the next (at least) 4 years. MS might if they continue not doing well, though I don't see it happening. NInty also might, but only because the wii isn't doing well. The hardware has little to nothing to do with it though.

As for the OP's question: I have to disagree. I don't see how the ps4 can beat xb1 in whatever month Halo 5 is released.

I'd rather wait for the holidays. There are a lot more 360 owners waiting for the next gen jump than playstation owners. Not saying X1 will beat PS4 in the holidays but PS4 will not further their relative lead.

If the X1 gets dominated in these holidays as well, I'm even more sure that the streak will be broken by Halo 5.

It's as easy as Sony not having a big seller in the Halo month. Titanfall was only beaten because of the release of ISS.

xbox 360 lead NPD console hardware sales for 32 consecutive months before having it's streak broken.  i think it is pretty obvious that ps4 won't ever lose an NPD to either the wiiU or xbox one.   so really,.. the next possible time for ps4 not to come out on top in NPD is when the next console launch occurs which i believe to be more than 2 years ways.  so so long as there is no surprisingly soon console launch in the next two years..

ps4 will easily break xbox's 32 consecutive months of leading console hardware sales in NPD

so optimistic ...mario kart doubled wii u sales...so halo will do the same for xbone only in us ,as europeans arent so intersted...permantly or temporarily,i doesn matter, ps4 will lose a  npd because of halo...

i think it is a myth that 360 owners are satisfied and are upgrading to next gen at a slower rate than ps3 owner.  i can only speak of my group of friends and acquaintances but proprotionally they are upgrading at the same rate.   i've seen a lot move from xbox to ps4,. especially among the more causal gamers.
