Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft should give up on "The One"

Which makes me wonder if they'll just make software (video games) or sell off the Xbox brand and it's portfolio of games. If they went with the latter I'm for Disney or Amazon.

I think worrying too much about that aspect of the console is a distraction... and it neglects its real problems.

If it was called The One Pile of Dog Poo would not change what it is at heart, a console that is weaker than the competition (PS4) and cost more or the same... doesn't have really compelling 1st pary titles, and it runs the 3rd party titles worst than the PS4.

I am sorry for all these xb1 owners who think they have the platform exclusive advantage compared to the PS4 (or anything really) if there is one it's not important enough to generate interest like the Wii U exclusives to (they make people forget how weak the hardware is, which is what that type of game should do).

Good luck come 2015.

This surely looks like an experimental blog!

I'd change the name of the site slightly to embrace its failures thus far and who it is aimed at...

Am I doing it right OP?

Depends, were you trying to miss the point entirely? If so, mission accomplished. Break out the confetti and party favors.

They have deeper problems than just the name...but the whole CONCEPT of what they are trying to force down users throats needs to die a horrible death. They STILL are trying to push Kinect (see recent commercials and comments from Spencer)...they are STILL trying to be the "One box to rule them all", even though customers are OVERWHELMINGLY rejecting that idea.

To be honest, I am not sure that there is any "Fix" for it. Their most intelligent move would be to kill the underpowered, underperforming, underselling console and focus on taking the Xbox brand (and XBL functionality) over to mobile.

Hey, the Xbox One could have had a worse name. It could have been called the Wii U.

I'm just kidding, I love the Wii U :p

Is anyone gonna discuss the actual blog post or just keep attacking the OP for posting it. Who cares if he wrote it? He links to an article not on VGChartz, so why are some calling for him to be moderated for something not even on the site?

Anyway, as for an actual discussion on the topic, pretty sure they already embraced the name by registering the domain name OP, and don't fall for any ban traps being laid all through this thread.

Thanks jlmurph!

I call it the XBO.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

"The One" sounds pretentious and hasn't been cool since the Matrix got old. Xbone has also stuck. So instead of trying to push for some other name, they should learn to love the Xbone and run with it. I'm sure spin doctors given millions of dollars to market stuff and get good PR could turn Xbone into a strength rather than an insult.

Lemme guess....you dont own a Xbox, right?

Lemme guess again: you like the consoles from a japanese manufacturer...right?

Oh god why?

Christ almighty... So far in the past 10 years i have heard

"Sony should give up on gaming"
"Nintendo should give up on gaming"
"Microsoft should give up on gaming"

Less competition is a bad thing, too much is a bad thing. Right now we have the perfect amount in the home console market.
