Forums - Gaming Discussion - Anyone else tired of the "indie boom"?

There seems to be alot of them and most of them aren't very good either especially on steam. There are some that do stand out enough though, so I'm fine with them for the most part. They supplement my AAA games.

I just want my mid tier back, you know the guys that once sat between Indie and AAA 😭

I don't understand why. Most of them (there are exceptions as with everything) weren't as good as the best indies or best AAAs and yet cost the same exact price as AAAs

At least indies don't rip you off

No, some just sell you alpha and beta builds of their games...

Which you buy if you want to help or buy later when the full version is out

And it's not like indies are the only ones doing it..

Heck, as a small example, Square Enix is doing it. With. A. F2P. Title. Yep... Alpha access to a F2P Squeenix PC game costs 15-20 bucks

Not when it comes to original and fun indie games like Minecraft and Kerbal Space Program. Could certainly do with less pretentious 2D platformers though.

Well buy it if you want to help SE then...

I'm not tired of it in the slightest, more variety for the industry is a great thing.

Most of them are lame and suck. Only a small amount are good and very few actually do well.

The problem is, many of the indie devs lack creativity. How many indie games include a character with a castlevania whip? how many top down RPGs with geniric stories? etc.

Although, a lot of good ones do stand out (Minecraft, Super Meat Boy, 1001 Spikes, etc.), but like a lot of people in this thread are saying, for every good Indie game, we get a ton of crappy ones.

Most indies suck so less indies games certainly wouldn't be a bad thing.

That is not logical to say, sorry. Less indies would mean less good indies as well. Just ignore the ones you don't like, they don't affect you in any way.

That goes for indies, mid tier, AAAs... all games, really.

They get much more attention than most of them deserve, so yeah, I'm tired
