Forums - Sales Discussion - Will Mario Kart 8 be the biggest sales news of the year?

The Wii U and/or X1 outselling the PS4 should create some chaos, if it happens.

Would be hilarious. Good for competition too!

Unless some other title can boost a consoles sales WW by more than 440% in the span of one week, I think it'll stay the biggest sales news of the year.

The problem with percentages is that they aren't representative of actual increase.

They are when it means that a console goes from 31k to 187k in two days.

mk8 has outsold watchdogs and infamous 2nd son on amazon's 2014 best sellers list.

MK8 is a well established IP that always does well. Watch Dogs is more impressive.A new IP selling almost 2 million on PS4 is insane.

an established IP versue a brand new one and it still end up selling less than it? and that was JUST the PS4 version? yeah ok i guess. MK8 did more for WI U than WD did for PS4 but thats the rub right there. PS4 was doing good anyway. Wii U not so much.

Remember the number of days they were for sale were not equal. WD figures represented 5 days whereas MK8 represented up to 3 days due to staggered launches. We will have a better idea in a few weeks time.

Easily watch_dog, but that's not take away the success of Mario Kart 8, it went beyond most of our expectations, so it did really well, regardless whether it doesn't help the Wii U in the long run

is two days difference really that huge? no not really, especially since MK is such a large franchise anyway

It's huge when it represents 40% of WD sales window.

Give it a month at least so that the difference in dates becomes negligable, and until January 2015 to get a truer picture.

My own personal opinion at this moment in time is that they appear to have done equally impressively, but for different reasons.
