I don't know what online game you guys were plaing, but every match I joined there was at least one person that spammed SNES Rainbow Road, and I ALWAYS played it with EVERY time I went online. It drove me nuts and away from Mario Kart 7's online mode.

Oh, well yeah, of course there's always someone who spams any given track! I wouldn't let something small like that like drive me away from such an amazing game though!

I guess. It's just that without VS mode online was the only way to get a chance to play tracks I wanted without the hassle of a Grand Prix, but no one ever chose the tracks I wanted, but either SNES Rainbow Road or the painfully easy courses *glares at GBA Bowser Castle 1 and Toad Circuit.* So while the courses were amazing and arguably better than Mario Kart Wii, the lack of certain features and the actions of people online really ruined a potentially ultra excellent Mario Kart.
Anyway, that's not what the topic's about. Yay for this because it promotes cariety and makes the courses you want to play more likely to be chosen when they are an option. It also will hopefully speed up the process of choosing a course instead of waiting for 30 seconds to have someone just pick random. >:(
Well if there's 12 players, 3 courses each... 12*3=36...
So that way there's no course overlap between players.
This is life changing! No more SNES Rainbow Road 400 times in a row. Now let's hope there's some variation in characters with so many to choose from. Also car builds btw. Seeing everybody except me playing as metal mario with red big tires and a white formula 1 car gets boring too.
This is a great decision and shows how Nintendo is serious about making Mario Kart's online a competitive haven.

Good! MK8's Rainbow Road is not even THAT good!
