Forums - Gaming Discussion - Return to the 'is the Wii more powerful than original Xbox?' question

I just wanted to add that there is (so far) only one game which we have screenshots of a version built for the Gamecube and a version built for the Wii to compare; Super Smash Bros.

Around the Network

I never said it effects sales, I posted it to deal with the issue of Wii being last gen or not.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

This is just funny. The Wii sells great. YAY. But it's slower than a last gen console... WHO CARES!!! it's not like it costs 2x more.

Let's go buy it becuase we love kiddie games...

Ok seriously tho... wait, that was serious. This is just amusing, and almost every responce is off topic. "Who cares if it has less power. It sells better." LOL

If you have a friend Rebel Strike isn't a bad choice, but if you are all for singleplayer Rogue Leader is the better game due to the better missions. If you can find both for a cheap price, there's nothing wrong picking up both. Some of the best Star Wars games ever made (and you know there aren't many good ones).

Definitely worth picking up both.  The on-foot missions are pretty dull in RS3, but the flight missions are just about as cool as RS2's (which are completely awesome) and the other vehicle missions (speeders & walkers) I also found very enjoyable.  Plus the games are quite challenging, which I appreciate.  If you've ever wanted to fly speeder bikes through the forests of Endor or participate in a mass dogfight with dozens of enemies and allies around huge capital ships near the Death Star, these games do those things extremely well.  Two of my favorite Cube games for sure.

In Memoriam RVW Jr.

SSBB Friend Code = 5455-9050-8670 (PM me if you add so I can add you!)

Tetris Party Friend Code = 116129046416 (ditto)

Well I hope this stops the arguement that somehow Nintendo uses hardware that is so optimized that MHz doesn't matter and their architecture is so superior. It's barely more powerful than the Xbox 1.

You can say it doesn't matter, and sales prove that right, but it will matter for a lot of games. Wii is last gen.

(I want to remind people that I'm most likely getting a Wii, despite so many things I find wrong with it such as this.  I never had a gamecube so it's worth about $100 to me for that.)

See Kwaad, this is why people attack you and call you the troll. The second line does nothing else but create fanboy flame wars. It has no impact on the rest of your thread.

Rogue Squadron 3 was meh. The multiplayer dogfights got dull pretty quickly. The entire RS2 game as co-op that came with RS3? Probably worth the price of the game right there. The graphics were amazing, at least in-flight, but on-land missions were crap and the game just wasn't very exciting. That's why I'm worried about Lair.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Let us agree that the Wii is in fact more powerful than the Gamecube but weaker than the Xbox. So what? That should be a valid argument only if the Wii didn't come with the whole concept around their controller, and only relied on improved graphics.

I don't think you really understand what you're talking about; it is a well known fact that G3, G4 and G5 PowerPC processors were far faster than their Pentium 2, Pentium 3 and Pentium 4 counterparts at the same clockspeed. It wasn't until Intel released the Prescot 2M core in Early 2005 that the Pentium 4 line became competative with other processor lines at similar clockspeeds; at 2.8 GHz the Prescott core was considered 'equal' to the Willamette core at 6.2GHz which is why it was named Pentium 4 HT 620.

HappySqurriel - thanks for answering my question RolStoppable - Thanks for the indepth advice elprincipe - Thanks for even more info BenKenobi88 - I worry about every game till I play it!
