Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bound by Flame Runs At Native 1080p on PS4, Has A Variable 30-60 Frame Rate

Bound by Flame is an upcoming fantasy-themed action role-playing game that will be released on May 9, 2014 across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. GamingBolt got an opportunity to interview to Spider Games’ Walid Miled, who is the producer of Bound by Flame.

Those interested in picking up the PS4 version of Bound By Flame will be interested to know that the game runs at native 1080p resolution with a variable frame rate from 30-60.

“Bound by flame runs on PS4 at a native 1080p with a frame rate ranging from 30 to 60 fps depending on how crowded the screen is with enemies,” Miled confirmed to GamingBolt.

Furthermore he also explained the different fighting styles in the game. “When starting the game, you do not pick between classes, you do that throughout the game by improving skill trees. There are 2 fighting styles. The 2 handed heavy weapons fighting style, “Warrior”, uses swords, hammers and axes. This fighting style can be compared to a tanked class. It has interrupt abilities, can do area damages and can break light shields. With this style you can push enemies to the ground and perform a charged area attack.”

“The double daggers fighting style, “Ranger”. This is a high speed, high DPS style made especially for hit and run and stealth. When stealthy you can backstab enemies for increased damages. We made sure that almost all of the fighting situations offer a stealth opportunity,” he explained.

We will have the full review of Bound by Flame in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates.

The next game with unlocked frame-rate. I know ethomaz, it is no problem for you but still I like locked frame-rates more than fluctuating. Hope this is not a trend with next-gen...

I just can say about the game that I played that have the option...

BioShock Infinite plays better unlocked... add a lot of screen tearing.
Killzone: Shadow Fall plays better unlocked... some screen tearing but not a lot like in Bioshock Infinite.

I didn't tried inFAMOUS options yet.

Edit - In PC I prefer locked if over 60fps.. unlocked if below 60fps.

Give us the option to cap it at 30fps please, that way those who prefer higher framerate over motion judder and vice versa can be happy.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Why anyone would possibly want an unlocked framerate is beyond me. Having a game screaming along at 60 and then jarring down to 30 when the action gets heavy on the screen is as ridiculous and obnoxious as the slowdown on a 30fps game dipping into the 20's or below under the same circumstances.

Either aim for 1080p at a locked framerate of 30 or cut the res and upscale to maintain the 60fps. This generation has been a circus act so far.

Locked is better if it is 60fps...  If it is to lock in 30fps I prefer unlocked because it is smooth even if it add some screen tearing.

That's good stuff.

Game looks relatively interesting might I add.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

You're either much more forgiving than I am or your eyes operate differently than mine; maybe both. There's nothing smooth about massive framerate transitions. Tearing has absolutely no business being in games nowadays with the capabilities of these machines.

That's the point there is no massive drop at all in the games I played... depend of the part of the game but the drops are from 40 to 35 for example... or 50 to 45... it is minor drops.

Arguing between locked and unlocked frame-rates is like arguing if a glass if half full or half empty.
The only fact is the higher the better. Sure its more noticable when it goes to 30 when the previous few frames have been 60, but its still better than having all the frames at 30 and not noticing the awesomeness when its at 60.*

Call of duty is not locked to 60, yet its well known for its superior frame-rate. Even when its near its lowest, its still smoother to play than most other games (atleast on the old consoles).

*I just used 30 and 60 as examples... I know it can be any other numbers in between as well.
