I just can say about the game that I played that have the option...
BioShock Infinite plays better unlocked... add a lot of screen tearing.
Killzone: Shadow Fall plays better unlocked... some screen tearing but not a lot like in Bioshock Infinite.
I didn't tried inFAMOUS options yet.
Edit - In PC I prefer locked if over 60fps.. unlocked if below 60fps.
