Some experts say it is not as good as you say. 1 thing they point out is the Xbox had really good sellling considering it was going up against the PS2 which dominated the entire market. Their reasoning (not mine by the way, these are analysts and such) is that 360 should be selling better because it was the only player in the field.
I would say the ps2 is still in the field :)

I think you guys need to rework your Wii numbers. They don't seem feasible based off of the numbers NPD released.

Yep, it sure was. But I think they were saying as the only nex-gen system on the market it should have been selling quicker cause it was first to market. This is just analysts. You can google it. "dissapointed 360 sales" should be in one of the links there.

In terms of next gen systems, it's by far #1, and it's hard to spin a 1.1 million Dec for a console that costs $400 as a bad thing. As for comparisons to the PS2, I never understood it. The PS2 is $129 and is the #1 selling console of all time in its 6th year. Comparing it to the 360 seems like comparing apples to oranges. When the 360 is 6 years old and $129, then it will be interesting to compare the figures side by side.

I don't know. The Box is 5 years old and sells how many? I'm not trying to call it dissapointing at all. But it doesn't cost only 400, there's a 300 dollar version. I'm not sure which sales better. But regardless, saying it's a "400" dollar system is not technically correct. Like how everyone says the PS3 costs "600" and they never mention the other price point. Will it be number one for that long? I think Wii takes over worldwide by the summer.

I'd also take that bet... You think the Wii will outsell the 360 by about 700,000 units every month until the summer? I'm not even certain that Nintendo is projecting they'll make 14-15 million units by then (where the 360 is projected).

Worldwide yes. It's not going to be that hard for Nintendo to get production up. They claim to have shipped 4 million worldwide thus far. They have sold 1 million units in Japan. They sold almost 300k one week over there. Worldwide I don't think it will be hard. After January we'll have a clearer picture how the respective systems will sell in Non-holiday non-launch environments for the year. I think it can easily outsell every console by 300k in Japan and 300k in Europe for at least the first half of this year and then into the end of the year. But after more people get their HD TVs Wii loses its advantage. And of course lack of killer apps, such as MGS4, FFXIII, Halo3, etc, etc. None of the real graphics intensive games will even touch the Wii. I'm not sure how the PS3 will do. But I'm getting one in March after my tax-refund. I'm sure once the exclusive usual titles come out, and also increased blu-ray penetration. Overall, I think it will get really close for the long term this cycle.

Horrible example as the Original Xbox is no longer in production and hasn't been in production for over a year.

The point is moot, as the price of one is more than the other. The rational here is that the cheaper system with good games will obviously sell more then a more expensive system with games. Once PS2 games stop being developed, sales will eventually slow and more buyers will move on to the next gen systems.

That is even if the Wii can produce that many by the summer, and if the console sales of it's competition remains stagnant until summer.

BUNKUM!! Feel free to post your numbers here... Sonycowboy can't ban you here...

Agreed. Your numbers seem too high for certain systems now that we have NPD data for December. I fail to understand why speculated numbers are so easily added for the Wii and PS3, but when it comes the 360, increments are meticulously scrutinized. I originally thought this site was more fair than other sites, but lately I'm not so sure.
