Okay, before I get attacked by the PDF, let me state my reasons for thinking the Last of Us wasn't a fantastic game like I hear reviewers raving about.   So people won't think I'm some sort of mindless troll.  Since a remake is in the works for PS4, which seems like the most unnessesary thing I've even heard.

My thoughts on the Last of Us

Firstly I'll admit the story telling was great, so were the cutscenes, graphics and VA.  But when you come down the it all the twists were perdicable, you've seen all the gags before, and it's sorry excuse for mind games towards the end was laughable, like a 8 year old who got his first Freud book.  Me and my family were just pointing out every single 'twist' the plot threw at me, and it got to the point were we predicted the entire ending.  Even if the story were more original, I still wouldn't be able to call it "AMAZING" because of just how tired the theme is.  It's like a zombie story, trying not to call itself one.  And I get people trying to tell me, that this game is "Nothing like the walking dead series.  The story isn't like any other zombie media."- when that was pretty much exactly what I got, but a bit more isolated.  As for the gameplay, it was okay, to much like standard horror games.  RE:4 is the pinicle of survial horror and this game just didn't live up to it for me.  It felt like a rehash.  I had to play the last difficulty just to get slightly challenged and the invention system was clunky as hell.  The "stealth" got triggered for no apparent reason, and the ememy A.I had to be some of the dumbest cluster fucks of algorithms ever burned on a disc.

I said all that to say, while I do think the Last of Us is better than your average shooter out there, and there is some fun to be had, however, there just isn't anything new in it for me, and I don't see what all the hype was about last year.  The open levels were gorgeous to look at and the music was great, but I can't see how this game was so well recieved.  I guess people are weary of innovation or anything that makes them feel stupid.   Even games with a more  tired genre like Bioshock Infinite imagined to create an engaging world, incredible art, superb charactors and psychoanalytical themes that were actually deep.  And TLOU is a game with even more acclaim that Bioshock.

I'm sorry, but if TLOU is the future of games, choppy movie scripts wrapped in an forgettable world with a basic story at the fore front of somewhat bland slow  gameplay.  I don't wanna be a gamer anymore.

Overall I'd give it a 7.5

Summary: Things I didn't like.

-Original story.  Typical zombie fare.

-Enemy A.I was stupid as hell.

-While the graphics were great, they could have crafted a more imaginitive world.  Wasted oppourtiny

-Ellie said some of the stupidest irrelevent lines since The Wand of Gamelon.

-Gameplay was slow and easy

-Stealth didn't matter since you could brute force your way through it on almost all the difficulties.

-Crafting/invention felt mindless and irrelevent.

Summary: Things I did Like

-The Music and Voice acting.

-The Graphics

- The storytelling.

- The Bow and arrow and traps were pretty cool.

- Multiplayer was interesting.

I can't see why they should make a remake of a game that isn't even a year old, that already had some of the best graphics of the gen.  It just seems pointless.

What do you guys think?

Yep its overrated as hell.

i played twenty minutes of if and I was just done. It was a generic shooter. I can careless about story if I wanted to watch a movie I would.

I think its a really dumb move. Not for money sakes but for just giving other companies the incentive to re release 1 year old games and expect them to sell. its sending a bad message.

Please let the people who buys the Playstation 4 version decide. If it's going to sell millions (hoping), do you still think it's stupid?

yes. games that fresh have no need to be re released. i said it was not dumb in a profit department but dumb as a whole.

Never came across one part I can remember where the AI was stupid.  They wanted to create a world where nature was taking over and reclaliming the earth and I think they nailed it.  The gameplay is meant to be slow, that just shows that the game is not for you, that doesn't mean anything is wrong with it.  Can you give an example of a crafting system that wasn't mindless, its pretty much the same crafting system that was in RE4, which you said is the pinicle of survival horror, even though its not even scary...

Good, bad, under rated, overrated, under appreciated, over appreciated, big budget, small budget. They all get remade or ported at some stage if there is a legitimate chance of making some extra bucks. TLOU definitely qualifies.

Quality often has little to do with it.
