Honestly, I'm a bit puzzled when I read complaints about the beginning of this generation. It seems above average for both the PS4 and XO, especially considering smaller games. Unless you're one of those "I can only play AAA" video-game aristocrats, downloadable games mean that there has never been this much content in the launch window before.

The gen is just getting started, plenty of exciting games on the horizon like FFXV, KH3, Middle Earth SoM, The Order, Halo 5, Quantum Break, Witcher 3, X, SSB, Mario Kart, SMT x FE, etc.  Also E3 is right around the corner, now that the next gen consoles are actually out expect a lot of game announcements. 

The first year of all the previous generations were not much better than the first year of the 8th generation.

Lol, at least you read the best part. Although I enjoyed my line about Rare a lot too.

8th gen will be the best gen so far, because gaming and technology keeps getting better.

It's the people who just keep feeling more entitled. Human generations get worse and worse.

ah, you reminded me. I was getting tire and I forgot to mention about the Digital content games. Actually you are right, The idnie games coming out (mainly on PS4 and WiiU) are what I find most exciting this Gen, but as any jack @$$ will tell you on this site indie games don't sell consoles. and yes it is the begining that is completley fair (I think I'm going to change the title to be honest) But honestly am having trouble getting excited for what I am seeing in general.

this was mentioned in my original post. I was still much more excited for those systems.

Please tell me something useful. What have you seen or heard that gives you this sense of certainty and excitement. I would like to feel what you feel for this gen.

So far yes, without question! I just platinum'd Second Son today and just shut off my PS4. Nothing else on the console interests me at this point. In fact, looking ahead, the only PS4 game I'm interested in is a game I've already beaten: The Last of Us. I don't know what I'm gonna do if they decide this indy crap is the "future".

It's been better so far than previous gen transitions. Especially last one.

XBox 360: Played CoD2 and Kameo then continued playing on ps2/pc.
PS3: Played GT4 HD demo, and FF12, watched blu-rays, continued playing on 360/pc.
GC: Played Wave race blue storm, continued playing on ps2/pc.
PS2: Can't even remember what exactly I played first year, continued playing on pc.
N64: played Mario 64, continued playing on ps/pc.

Ok WiiU launch was bad, NSMBU, Lego city undercover, Rayman legends, 3 games in 9 months.
On PS4 I've already played 9 games to completion, and a couple of demos and tried a few free games.

It's the first gen I've hardly played on pc during the transition. I'm still playing on ps3 as well though, still a lot to play there.
