I know its a joke thread but if "value" is being discussed as the only metric, only morons should buy either console right now.

Wait for at least 5 good games that you can't play on a last gen console or a busted up PC...

Spoken like a true "gamer type". The next gen is about tv and sports.
That's the whole problem here. WiiU is a hundred dollars cheaper and can do all of that.

Next gen is about dumbing down the console branding and message to the TV and sports crowd in order to expand the market.

Hardcore gamers however are very isnecure bunch and feel that they are not catered to if they are not the center of attention when it comes to branding...

I'm a hardcore netflix user, and I get upset when companies don't treat me as the center of the world when they try to throw gaming at me. I already have a roku/chromecast. If I wanted games, I'd buy a ps4.

Why is that? Is it because Xbox 1 has no games? Or because you don't want to spend 100 bucks more? Where I live the price difference is only $50 bucks and Kinect + HDMI sound like they may be worth it to me. Not to mention the current and upcoming game lineup for both consoles...

Also a lot of people don't want 30 things in their living room each doing one thing.

For me an ideal livingroom setup when I do buy a next gen console will be Xbox 1 + XBMC streaming/gaming PC plugged in to HDMI in and to eliminate cable TV entirely. This will rape pretty much any cable TV + roku + PS4/X1 + PC setup out there and remove HDMI port switching, different interfaces, taking up extra space...etc.

Sony should just ship a brick in the box. They'd probably still be number one considering how much Nintendo and Microsoft have been screwing up this gen.

why bother with the brick.  sony fans would buy a cardboard box with playstation written on it.

Thanks for the laugh!

There is no way this is real.

I think I will leave these forums, the level is going down and down, and most of time I don't know if I have to laugh or cry...

I always toy with the idea of leaving.  Everyone's either legitimately fanboying or they're doing these half-troll posts, and either way it means the whole board is just constantly filled with crap.  Even tongue-in-cheek sarcasm gets old when it's all you see, people.

Yes, the raw power of the PS4 surpasses all other consoles...

But, a console is not all about raw compute power which was witnessed less gen with the 360 and PS3. PS3 had more power than 360 as well.

This is about raw power, how the architecture of the system works in tandem with all the other components, how efficient the OS is, how efficient SDKs are, and how the Firmware/OS use the power available to them. The answer to these will be unclear for the next 2-3 years as both companies will improve the OS, Firmware, and SDKs. The hardware power will not be improved upon as these specs will last the entire generation. On the hardware side PS4 has already won.

I skipped the OP but I'm going to say "Yes".

So Sony basically has a starting two year advantage?

Also, last gen, you'd say 360 had a better os, firmware and sdk right? Why'd it get outsold every year then?

It would save on shipping by keeping the weight down.

funny you mention that 500gb is too much; its far too little considering the install sizes of the new games, especially if you're a consistent gamer with frequent purchases.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
