No. The last thing we need to do is dilute a franchise that already doesn't get enough love (although I know many of you would beg to differ).

And marketing this type of game as a Halo or COD is just silly, too. You're not going to woo over any FPS fans with a spinoff to a Nintendo game. The only people you'll likely pick up are Metroid fans, and I have a feeling most of those wouldn't bite. We play Metroid to be Samus, not a fricking grunt like in ever other FPS shooter on the market.

Please stop trying to recreate Nintendo in everyone else's image. We like that they are unique.

I think you don't understand

Only if I got to play as a space pirate. Being the bad guy is fun.

Stll waiting for the Legend of Ganondorf, Super Wario 3D World, etc

Be a neat idea.

Raid a space ship or a colony.

Collect resources.

Build an army/armada.

Fight the Galatic Federation.

Final Boss is Samus.

Make the plot a what if scenario.....so to keep the canon intact.

It would basically be Assassin's Creed IV but in SSSSPPPPPPAAACCCCEEEEEE!

Yeah, I was thinking along the line of a mission based game and with each mission you complete you gain a rank in the Space Pirate army until you become a Commander(or whatever is the highest rank).

Missions would take place on different planets(like MP3) and there would be plenty of exploration, levels would be pretty big. There would also be missions in space like raiding a space ship(first starting off in space until you breach the space ship). It would even have space ship battles à la Star Fox. You'd also steal technology on alien planets to improve your arsenal(so you get more powerful along the way and you can use your powerups to explore new areas).

The higher the rank you attain, the more space pirates are under your control and the better arsenal you are given plus you can build a small personal army that helps you along the way.

Would be a pretty neat game if done right. :p

FPS? Not really. A game in the style of Super Metro is or Metro is Fusion? Absolutely.

What do you mean?  What is there for me to understand that is in the original post?  I'm responding to what I understand, which I understand fully, undertstand?

Nintendo needs to leverage their exisiting IPs, not create more IPs that require updates every generation.  Just ask the Star Fox, FZero, and Chibi Robo fans.

Imagine a game you can control a Galatic Fedaration soldier or Space Pirate. Don't have to be CoD or Halo clone. Metroid universe (lulz) has enough content to make it real. And if Nintendo do that, they will still be Nintendo

I think you're on to something. Make it play like Republic Commando and you've got a winner.

I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Bolded, Bolded/Copied for emphasis.

I completely understand the concept.  I stand by my reasoning, however.  I'm not coming at this from a "wouldn't it be cool" angle, but rather from the standpoint of watching too many franchises get neglected in favor of questionable spinoffs.  You make spinoffs when a game sells so amazingly well that you can print money just featuring its characters.  The Metroid franchise does not sell well, sadly enough.  I don't think creating another game in its universe will do anything except fragment the existing audience.

While I understand your point, I still think would be great anyway. Mario Kart is a example that a spin-off can be great. And no, I don't think a Metroid spin-off would have MK sales level.

I'd love a Paper Metroid game where Ridley is the main (player) character.
