Forums - Microsoft Discussion - When will X1 release in the rest of the world...

How much will a release in the rest of the world boost X1's baseline sales?

30-40% 4 2.38%

40-50% 1 0.60%

>50% 4 2.38%

Nothing 19 11.31%

Wii U already ate up all potential sales 13 7.74%

Total:168

... and will it matter?

In light of the soon to arrive PS4 Launch in Japan, The PS4 will have released in all major markets and in several smaller but not insignificant ones.

I've heard that argument now every time a PS4 vs X1 sales discussion come up; "But the X1 has just released in 13 countries so far". In itself it is a valid point but if it is so important why doesn't MS just do it? I mean Sony did manage it, are they better in logistics than MS? What's keeping them? I mean it must really hurt them to see so many markets already turning into Sony land just because their console isn't available there. Frankly I'm sick of this argument and I want MS to finally release it to the world so we will have comparable sales.

So to reiterate:

When will they arrive? (at least Japan and the rest of Europe)

Why didn't they manage to have a close to ww release? Was it because of their own choice or lack of recources?

Will those sales matter in the overall picture or are the not yet served countries already being overtaken by the PS4?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

It wont matter. They already released in the parts that give them about 70% of total sales of the 360 with a year head start. Now with the delay to the other 30% I can see the XB1 sales in the territories it launched in with 80%. Maybe more because it really is directed at US and is expensive.

It won't matter seeing as how the territories that it released in is practically 90% of it's customers.

I was wondering this myself with the PS4 JP launch coming up. Clearly stock issues cannot be behind it so not really sure.

It seems like Microsoft is playing conservatively or defensively essentially conceding 10-20% of the global market for 2014 to Sony. I know those markets won't make the difference overall, but this puts Microsoft in the position of finding a path to first place even harder. I guess the US alone can keep them in the picture for many third parties, but this is not setting themselves up well for the coming years.

I said 20%-30%
because even though it is not their most relevant market that are left... The sheer (not sure of the spelling) amount of countries left will make a bump....

now it doesn't really matter if launches now or later this year... What they need is a good opportunity to do it.. A simple launch won't be different now or later or at least not by much... They need an event, a big ad campaign and a bait... Like a good bundle with a game or a year of live... Do that when game for gold comes out... And maybe a 50bucks price cut on the bundles..
now you have china also to look after, this could either be a dud or a big hit for MS....

bit done right I'm convinced they can grab sales up to 30% or even more with a big megaton (which is not likely right now).. With a regular launch with nothing special 20% is doable but way harder imo

Won't matter XBone will be non-existent to the rest of the world.

It won't matter. XBO is basically DOA in Europe.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I believe that leaker, forgot exactly what he said but like 13 countries in april and another 15 in October:

I think it'll boost overally weekly sales something like 15% - 20%

Judging by the fact US was 50% of sales last gen and UK was 10%, I think the other 11 launch countries make up 20% - 25%

It will make no difference. The countries they didnt release in are countries where they had minimal market shares already.
