Forums - Nintendo Discussion - First day with Wii U impressions (Sony fan perspective)

Wait, what?

A story of a fan enjoying a competing company's products?

This can't be. Video game fans aren't supposed to enjoy any products made outside of their favorite company.

In all seriousness, glad you enjoyed it. Going multi-plat was great for me, and it's great that more people are opening up to it.

People have extreme brand loyalty for some reason. I myself am very loyal to Sony in a sense that unless they turn into a completely different company in the future I will stick with Playstation as my primary console. But honestly I have not seen much of a reason to get another console outside of my Playstation's until the Wii U. (I should have got a GC to looking back)

I may get blasted for this but the Wii missed a mark with me, I do not care about motion controls and I do not like playing at 480p so it just did not offer anything appealing to me. Now that the Wii U has 1080p (and even upscales Wii games to 1080p) I am more interested because 1080p will be the standard for atleast 4-5 more years and by then I imagine the "Wii U 2" will be out. I will have to wait and see what they do before I make a decision on it.

I haven't read the whole thread but first I would like to say I'm glad you are enjoying it ^.^

Also, (if nobody has mentioned it yet), have you thought about getting a wireless sensor bar? If would be much easier to move around than the wired one and from what I've heard, they work well.

EDIT: I had a bit of the opposite scenario last gen. Wii was my main for a while and then I got a PS3 as a complimentary device and that was pretty much perfect for me ^.^

Very fair and insightful. Those two words don't always go together around here. I was actually wanting to hear from an actual ps4 owner about the web browser. Good to know that the ol' Wii U has some positives over the ps4. I've had a U since launch and will be picking up the 4 next month when Second Son launches. I'm not a Xbox hater, but when this gen is over I have a feeling it is going to the red headed step child this time around.

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."

well multiplats alway look better on PC so for me thats the reason i prefer PC/WiiU vs PS4 or Xbone. and yes the best internet browser of all 3 systems is o the wiiu. period.

Namely youtube on the browser (why does the APP suck so badly).

The app got an upgrade and its very good now. Its not as useless as it was at launch.

Congratulations on your purchase! Wii U keeps getting so much bad rep when its actually a decent console. You should try out MiiVerse, its quite interesting.

Glad you're enjoying your Wii U. Definitely get a Pro Controller though. I've used all three next gen controllers, and of the standard ones, its Pro > DS4 > XBO Controller.

I should note that last gen, my picks were 360 > CCP > DS3.

I should ALSO note that this gen, I absolutely love every standard controller. They are seriously all awesome. DS4 and XBO are so close, and Microsoft really fixed the Dpad for me. Even still, the Pro Controller is nearly perfect to me. I'd like to hear you're thoughts on it once you get one.

I am glad the pro controller is so good. I am curious to try it.

i think i am one of the few mentioned in this thread, that only plays fps with the gamepad only. i loved using it while playing black ops2, also playing co-op with the gamepad is pure awesome. Because everyone has there own screen to play from, no more split screen for local co-op games.

Being a "whore" is the way forwards with gaming. I go where the most stuff I prefer is.

I absolutely love the games I have on Wii U and definitely think the line up at the moment is better than the PS4 or XBONE. However I do think it's inevitable that PS4 and XBONE are going to have superior line ups within the next 12 months.

That said, the Wii U line up is so refreshing in comparison with the PS4 and XBONE, that like the Wii last gen, it makes a perfect accompanying system. This could well (at least for real gamers) prove to be it's secret weapon.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.
