Nothing can dominate like PS2 did, is just not possible in this multiplat world of today I mean come on PS2 retired Sega from the console business

That is a gross statement. SEGA retired themselves from the business because of their past mistakes. They had their chance and blew it. Sony seized it.

The console  hasn't even been released in japan is aready kicking ass, if things go well in japan it really could be ps2 all over again

NPD numbers PS4 - 271KXB1 - 141KPS3 ~53.5KWii U ~49K360 ~48.5K

"hasn't even been released in japan"

been reading this a lot. if comgnet preorders mean anything, ps4 japanese launch will be aroung 50% of wii u's launch or less. week 2 and onwards will be tough untill japanese centric software releases.

Another wonderful prediction by Zero999 I'm so necrobumping this in 2 weeks

Way too early to call. There probably won't be a 2:1 at the end of the gen. Probably not even 1.5:1.

Really?  So if the PS4 sells 115M, you expect the One to sell ~82M?  Ain't going to happen.  I think right now, since it won't have near the success in EU or Japan as the 360, the One is looking at maybe 60-65M.

I don't really expect the PS4 to sell more than 100 million.

90 million vs 65 million sounds good to me. But that's probably still too high for both.

These numbers only count though if PS4/X1 don't find a way to tap into the casual market like last gen.

Do you consider games like Call of duty casuals games if yes ,can you tell me why those casuals won't buy a ps4 for theirs favorites games.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Wow, 4 months into release and people are already celebrating. X1 is selling on its own overcoming both that initial negative back lash and $100 gap to boot. There's titanfall, Gears, Halo and others megahit franchises MS can get its hand on with their deep pockets.

X1 can still beat PS4, one generation is a long time.

yahh becasue PS4 will not get UC4 TLOS2 GOW GT7 and all the other sony exclusioves and superior 3rd partys.

X1 lost the war, its a matter of how respectable a figth it can put up now.

I'm not even an xbox fan and I can tell how arrogant you are sounding right now. How big are Uncharted, TLOS, GoW as franchises compared to Halo, Gears etc? Heck One Halo entry outsold all the sony exclusive titles put together if I recall the numbers correctly.

GT is as big as Halo,Uncharted 3 outsell Gears of war 3 and since ps4 is more popular then ps3  i think Uncharted 4 will outsell any Gear of war game, the last of us look as big as Uncharted .

Infamous is bigger then ever in ps4 and by looking to The order pre order it look like this games will be big even bigger then Titanfall.

Still too early to tell. The insane sales of PS2 covers both hardcore gamers plus causals who only play Singstar/Buzz/Guitar Hero. Now more than 50% causal are gone. And more and more new kinds of entertainments came to the word. I doubt PS4 will reach PS2 level. Let us just see if PS4 can reach to PS3.

Singstar/buzz are not big if you compare them with other casuals games the best selling buzz and singstar sold less then 2 millions.

Majority of ps2 gamers are hardcore i doubt they are more then 10 millions  casuals on ps2

PS4 will not dominate like PS2 did. Xbox is now a household brand/name in the USA. PS4 did double Xbox One in sales this January but that doesn't mean that it will stick that way forever. If by using that logic than the 360 would have blown PS3 out, PS3 outsold xbox. There are around 40 million 360s in the states, and majority of those haven't converted to the new gen and won't for awhile. Granted, there are a ton of ps3 users that havent converted as well.

I feel that Xbox 360 users won't convert to next gen for awhile because there is no reason to. The majority of xbox 360 users bought a 360 because of online gaming. Playstation users got their hardware because it was better and faster. Ps4 offers better specs than any other console, xbox one features upgraded specs from the 360 which isn not a reason why any xbox 360 user would convert. They want a better xbox live experience compared to the 360, because there is no point in buying the One for hardware when xbox live was why we got a 360.

Or it could be a conspiracy :3 Sony's second console performs amazingly, microsoft's second consple lerfroms amazingly. Sony's third console not so well, Microsoft's console not so well. Concidence? I think not.

In all seriousness, I'll be buying the One as soon as Halo 5 is released (don't care for price of console. Paid $600 for my ps3 and sold it a half year later)

I don't think the PS4 will dominate that much, unless the Xbox One All In One Entertainment System On Input One has a major crumble it will not be PS4 outselling the all the competition almost 3 to 1...

Mind you, I have a PS4 and never owned a PS2 back then... I do see some serious benefits to this situation, like on the tablet market, the smaller studios can afford to miss out on the sales on the smaller/more complet platforms so there is more concentration all going to the same place (you also save by not having to buy 2 systems to get everything significant).

Only the losers lose.

In no way do I expect it to reach PS2-level sales. XB1 may even reach surpass 360 when all is said and done. Nintendo might pull a miracle out of their ass... I suppose. :P There may be domination, but I doubt it'll ever get that bad.

it cant beat the PS4 unless there is some GTA type exclusive on XB1. Now I do agree that calling a "blow out" is too early, calling a safe win I can see but I definity think it is too early to call 70%+ market share type win yet.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut
