Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Who Else Thinks a Xbox One Price Cut is coming in March??

I do not like the X1 because it is inferior to PS4, but I think together with a price cut and the Rare Kinect Sports game, they could win the mass market and the console war this generation.

How? Without Japan and europe? Simply impossible. It will take a metric tonne more then 1 kinect game and a price cut for x1 to outsell ps4 world wide. Sony will also do price cuts for ps4.

In order for Microsoft to compete with the PS4 they would have to drop the Price to about $350-$400. I mean that's the only way. Microsoft I'm sorry but you're going to have to do another 180 and get rid of the Kinect. No one wants it. It's not what you advertised it to be.

Nintendo hold off cutting the price by a lot more time and they barely had any games.
MS most likely won`t have to resort to that anytime soon.

Also, they have titanfall coming March, so there`s really no need for a price cut.

It's an interesting idea, but I don't think they'll do it before the holiday season.

I think they're banking on the hype of Titanfall being enough to boost X1 sales. If that doesn't work, they'll consider a price cut, or even more drastic measures like removing Kinect (which I don't think they want to do).
But it could work. There's a real positive buzz around Titanfall, and I think the market *really wants* a new IP that can replace COD, which might even help review scores.

A price cut this early is a risk, and they'll have to compensate early adopters to prevent another internet rage. And the X1 isn't selling that badly. In the US, sales are actually quite good. They have a problem in Europe and Titanfall seems to me to be a game that'll appeal more to US gamers anyway.

That would make the 3 million people who just bought it for $499 quite angry...

not going to happen, 3 1/2 months after release? unheard of.

^Yes that's me ripping it up in the GIF. :)

Considering the power and hardware size difference both in favor of the PS4, the One needs to drop to $350 or below if they want any chance in hell of parity (and really, that didn't help them enough last gen either, but still).

Terrible idea since they are still selling decently and Titanfall is going to move a lot of consoles, also too soon bad message

Nope, not a chance.

It cost MS $471 to make the Xbox One. A $100 price drop would put them in a huge hole and would certainly piss off anyone who bought an Xbox One before the price drop. It would be really difficult to justify a price drop this early especially when they no idea what it would do to market share.

Dropping the price would only cause more financial damage to a division that the investors already want sold.

People still seems to forget that MS is one of most profitable companies of the world and they still have around 100 billion in cash. Heck, MS makes more money than Google and around as much as Apple. 1 billion loss might be a lot for Sony but it is nothing for MS.

You have to remember that Xbox brand was never profitable during its first 5 years and MS still didn't abandon it (losses were only around 3 billion). And now MS is even more profitable and with more cash than ever.

They won't drop price. Titanfall will get people jumping on board and who won't with Titanfall, will with Halo 5. However I do see a pricedrop in the fall for Halo. Not sure if they can get production cost down enough to do a $100 price cut. Maybe. The strong line up of games will push people over but I do agree they need to price cut as soon as they can. Maybe a 450 $ bundle next fall with 6 months xbox live included, I think this would make it profitable by then. However who knows how much production cost will drop by then.
