Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will we ever get a new 2D Metroid game again?

I get that but that wasnt my point, you said in the OP that they were supposed to do something after Other M but nothing ever came about. So one could think that that game didnt sell as much as they wanted and whatever follow up got canned or is still shelved.

Other M sold 1.3 million so I think Nintendo was expecting WAY too much from that game sales-wise. All the negative attention it recieved didn't help too much either.

I think they just don't know what more to do with Metroid, and I don't blame them. They have to stray from Samus's established arsenal if they want to bring new gameplay ideas to the series.

First I want them to make a quick remake of Metroid II. That game is nearly unfinishable (was about to say unplayable but the controls are okay), because of the black and white places. They seem really generic to the naked eye but I'm sure they would do many cool things with SR388 in color.

Yep.

Metroid Other M sold 1.26M. That's pretty good for a bad game.

most of those sales came from bargain bin. it didnt reach a mil until long after if was selling for 20 below and this is Ninty they hate to sell there games for anything less than full price long after the game releases
