Forums - Gaming Discussion - Next Gen Hardware, Next Gen Ideas, Next Gen Gameplay.

With Next Gen hardware in the hands of developers, I think its high time that we see some trully next gen game ideas. Here are 2 of mines.

(1) Branching pathes in the story that totally changes the story's playthrough.

I remember playing Resident 4 and there was a part in the forest where you had 2 paths to choose from, with 2 different boss encounters. I think we need to see more of this in next gen games.

Not only should the story change from that point, but the games choices, locals you may miss because of your choices, boss characters that you may choose to try to reach, or avoid.

We should also have different person of interest either you will miss, or change due to your path choices, and who you kill/ or don't, should also alter future character encounters.

I think this gameplay will give players a more diverse experience and add to the replay value of the game.

(2) Real Time name implemmentation.

Developers should have the abality to include real names to voice speach with next gen hardward.

My character should be me, my name. Imagine playing Killzone Shadow Fall and having all in game mission briefs spoken with your name ?! NPC characters using your name when speaking to you or during a massive battle, voice chatter over the comms are directed to you using your name.I think it would be an awesome idea.

I know that you could not do it with every game, Uncharted comes to mind to not use it in, but games like COD, Battlefield, Resistance, inFAMOUS, The Order.

What are some of your ideas ? What do you think of this ?

Please share your thoughts.......As always, Keep on Gaming.

You want every voice actor to record thousands of names every time they want to speak the players name... and we thought GTAV was an expensive game

The issue with having characters speak your name is that if you have a fucked up name, then the characters will pronounce your name wrong... Or if you put put a name at the beginning for shitz such as Jizz_Beard, it will probably get real old real fast and if you spell it wrong, well thats even worse so it is a really hard thing to implement which I highly doubt any developers will take the time to do so

Than again, maybe that won't get so old loll, "Captain Jizz Beard, reporting for duty!" but when you are showing it off to some guests, maybe its not such a good idea

I like the branching paths idea. That was awesome in RE4. It's like Mikami knew you were going to play through the game more than once. I'm really interested to see what next gen can offer in terms of gameplay that wasn't possible before. If it ends up just being prettier graphics I'll be pretty disappointed as I've been playing at 1080p/60fps on my PC for a while now.

Well when I said names, I ment like David, Mike, Stephen, Mark, Justin. More like Dictionary names.

i don't think the next gen hard-ware will do anything to make this idea come to life.   branching story path could have been done last gen if they really wanted to.   the thing is, developing each of the branches means developing game that most of your audience will not see.   Imagine there are just two branches.  ...that's like developing 2 games except a player will only see half the game (barring replays).   branch each of the branches it's now like 4 games.  if you wanted to make something where each player gets a truely unique experience it would be like developing 100's of games worth of content but not getting 100's of games worth of revenue.

not gonna happen.

I want to see more roboust concepts in multiplayer.   team death match competitive shooters can suck my fucking balls.   i want multiplayer to find more uses for co-op (my prefered form of online play) and more uses in other genres.  demon's souls was at least a unique idea even if you didn't like the game.   more unique ideas like that please.

Mass Effect level choice, dialogue and consequences. Preferably at a larger scale.
Multiple endings.
Crysis 1 level organic beauty.
Battlefield 4 level destructability as standard across genres.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

I would release a streaming machine with a pad and sell the games digitally cheaper.
The console performance would be between WiiU and XboxONE, enough to get 720p ports of PS4 games at 40fps. I would focus on F2P games and console ports that focus heavily on MP.
I would sell it at a 200$ basic pricepoint with different packs of both F2P and retail pre-installed games for 250$ and 300$ respectively.
I would flood the market with microtransactions and pay2win games LOL

@kitler53 , I think a game like GTAV is a perfect of my example. That game is massive, but could have been just that. 3 players, 3 different games, 3 different outcomes.

The Battlefield 4 level destructability across all games i'm all in favor of...... YES.
