MS will release one X1 in Japan just to claim that they were sold out in record time :).

I agree with the OP in that the PS4, especially the X1, will find it more difficult to sell in Japan than in in US and Europe. What's being released for these consoles in Japan anyways?

That's common sense though..

Japan is the smaller market.

And the games coming so far are good.

We have Dynasty Warriors 8, Yakuza Ishin and Final Fantasy 14 at launch

The WiiU marketshare will be much nicer for Nintendo in Japan, but PS4 will still take it I think

200k~1m for a home console game in japan is very good!
I think it is as sucessful as a 2m~10m game worldwide.

Well, I guess those are decent games for Japan, but I think as the PS3 stumbled out of the gate in Japan, so I don't see why it's unthinkable that the PS4 wouldn't have a slow start as well. Plus the PS3 is still doing well there.

I could understand that, as a "hope thread". But Media Create/Famitsu happened this Wednesday with Wii U at 14k. So it seems that easy win is the last thing that can be associated with Wii U.

We have to remember that ps3 had a lot of bad things going for it like costing a lot, it was complicated to develop for ON TOP of the obvious challenge of rising costs for developing these next gen(at the time) games. And the games weren't selling too good which mainly stemmed from the ps3 costing so much

Ridge Racer and Gundam( The main games the ps3 had at launch) only did like 25k each their 1st weeks respectively in japan.

PS3 only sold like 85k launch week. PS2 broke 1million its 1st week in japan for comparisons sake.

Ps4 has a lot more going for it this time around so we will see next month

Mehh... Idk... Its hard to tell, It depends if Japan look the late release the wrong way or not since they are kinda honorablesh towards stuff... Like one of the main reasons many article states that the Xbox doesn't sell well in Japan is cause MS isn't a Japanese Company. Idk how much truth there is to that but it will be interesting to say the least... I think just cause of FFXV and KH3, ps4 will do really well in Japan until a zomfg game comes out for the wiiU

And I think X1 has no chance... The 5 people that care about the x1 in Japan will buy it day one but apart from that, I dont think it will sell all too well
