Forums - Gaming Discussion - Your favorite gaming soundtrack of the 7th gen?

Oh, a lot of games deserves a mention, too many. But once as I remember I immediately went to PC for searching the song from Portal. I heard it from small radio. It was funny. Also I like atmospheric ol'day songs from Bioshock, Fallout New Vegas etc.

Asura's Wrath
Great game awesome soundtrack.. to bad nobody played it.. since a sequel won't be happing I hope it will be ported to iOS someday so more people can enjoy this.. would hate to see that this was just it for Asura's Wrath

As someone who enjoyed Asura's Wrath for what it is, come on now. That soundtrack had like three songs, and one of them is over 100 years old. Yasha's Theme is indeed awesome though.

It's Xenoblade and Skyrim for me. Come to think of it, the music is a big reason why I ended up liking Skyrim (that and the Dark Brotherhood, which to me might as well be the whole game).

To me there are 3 (4) games where I thought many times: what a kick ass soundtrack!

1. Metal Gear Solid 4

2. Darksiders II

3. Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2

Really liked the Banjo type instrument song on the last of us... but even though it's also gen 8 (is that cheating?) Assassins Creed 4 has one of the best range of songs that has ever graced a computer game.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

Catherine was extremely fun and a cool remix of classical music. I agree with Afro Samurai, still wish I'd remembered that game for the GotY voting just for soundtrack, but the actual game is such ass I totally forgot. And there's one song in To the Moon that really hits me.

Killzone 2 - Helghan Forever

What I love about it is how the emotions of the Helghast is reflected in the music. Their defeat, anger, clamness and retaliation.

Its also gamings first Ivor Novello award winner.

I was gonna say Xenoblade, but I think I really have to say Mario Galaxy. Xeno is beautiful and a classic JRPG soundtrack. But Galaxy is truly magical and "innovative" in that it is the same as the game - it provides a new gaming experience, a game that is like a magical journey through space. The soundtrack is key in the magic that is that game, and it is as good or better than any movie soundtrack of that style. It makes me think of ET or some Pixar adventure.

Mass Effect series bust especially Mass Effect 3.
