Front loaded, much like modern blockbuster software. I don't think the PS4 will have any shot at Wii-like numbers, certainly not above in weekly sales, the Wii sold about 16.5 million in its first full year, followed by about 50% up yoy in 2008 and then down 15-20% for two years and the rest we all know.

I think a lot of people are getting ahead of themselves due to the massive launch figures, "PS2 era" and other sentiments are simply premature and out of place; there is no way any console will dominate like the PS2 or sell as much in the foreseeable future. With this likely being a shorter gen than the 7th, there's just not enough time to reach any amazing numbers. I'll be truly surprised if the 8th gen roster of home consoles manages more than 160-170 million consoles combined and handhelds will likely be below 50% of the 7th gen.

Sony always promises long life cycle and great support with new IP's and contect, so they trust sony that they will have great gaming from studios like Naughty dong, Santa monica, Media molecules, Quantic Dream, Japan, studio, Sony London studio etc., and alos the hardware is great. People buy Playstation for five years not just playing for sometime in holidays and forget it.

This game alone will help sell 20 Million PS4 in 12 months since worldwide console launch. 

Gamers love Hideo Kojima and his games. Especially Japan. 

MGS4 did wonders for very expensive PS3 back then. 

PS4 already a million ahead of Xbone and thats without Japan

The PS4 is resonating with consumers fantastical well and the numbers prove that. Sony just need to keep this momentum going and anticipate the moves of the competition. If Sony makes the right moves consistently they can end this gen top comfortably and they do expect the PS4 to outsell the PS3 significantly. Andrew House said “It has an opportunity to significantly exceed what we've been able to achieve with the PS3. We start off with a price point that is much more consumer friendly than was there for the PS3".

So the PS4 is expected to outsell the PS3 which is now at 80million+ can it reach 90 to a 100million+ sold. Imo if the PS4 is going to outpace the Wii's sales it will come to how long this gen lasts and keeping the momentum going, which Sony are good at. Sony are onto a winner with the PS4 so it's not impossible to achieve but it's not going to easy either.

Just what I was thinking, still MGSV should sell better on PS3/PS4. 

Like I said, it would be unheard of because besides the Wii that hadn't happened before. And no, I don't believe the PS4 will beat that particular record, because weekly sales have to stay crazy high for the whole year.
