Forums - General Discussion - This Is What VGCharts Looked Like in 2007

I remember the monthly charts.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

To the guys that were here back then. Most of us say that 2008-2009 were better because there were a lot more discussions about games and the sales discussions were less "violent" than now.

Do you think that by 2015-2016, so by mid gen when we'll likely know where each console will end, all the anger that some users bring to the forum will leave room for more interesting and constructive discussions about games or do you think that things will never be like 2008-2009?

I dont think we will ever go back. The forum attracts a certain type of user these days...people who are similar to the most prominent users on the forum. And in my opinion the most prominent and popular users are very trollish/bias towards specific consoles.

Back in the day we had a lot more reasonable non bias posters. The trolls were the odd ones out and we never really taken seriously. Those same users who were known trolls back in the day are now nominated for greatest Vgchartz users of 2013

A bit before my time I first discovered this site in early 2008.

No more facelifts planned really. I like the site as it is now - the intention was to make it feel more like the "blue" site from 2009ish which it does compared to the more bloated site we had in between. I'm pretty happy with everything as it is at the moment and just want to focus on the new gen and making the data as accurate as possible.

This post makes me happy.

Glad to see the focus going to where it is really needed. It will help this community so much.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I remember when the site looked like that. Although you probably wouldn't think it by looking at my post count.

I preferred things back then. I found it to be a lot easier to navigate and the discussions seemed more civil. Perhaps I just have a case of "the good ol' days".

Any plans for a mobile site? I know many including me browse through their phones nowadays, but I do find it difficult replying to threads and navigating through the site using my phone.

I wish the site was more optimized for mobile devices, that would be great. VGChartz does crash a lot on my iPhone.

OH MY GOD! ioi POSTED IN THIS THREAD!! You should put that in the thread title.

Man, I can't even remember VGChartz ever looking like this--so young and sexy, but still innocent and barely discovering her womanhood.  Guess I'm not hardcore enough. :(  It's been a beautiful ride, though.  The customizeable "Myspace" styled profile pages, VGChartz IM, VG$.  This place was pretty exciting.  In a way, it still is.

He sure did. Is it a rare occurrence for ioi to post?

I know that it won't be the same as before, too many great posted have gone, but I hope that by mid gen the trolls will have lost interest in ridiculous wars and will leave room for more constructive discussions.

And as you say, some people start being trolls only to learn that there are other ways, becoming good users.

@Dmick90: Yes, nowadays it is quite rare to see him post in a thread, and even more rare to see him making several posts.

Please excuse my bad English.
