Kinect isn't a media medium, it's just a gadget that many feel is dumb..

I'm talking about two devices that weren't necessary, add little to the average gaming experience, but were forced on people and made the console more expensive.

The similarities are pretty obvious.

Nothing alike, other than unnecessary raised cost. PS3 was a trojan horse for a media format that Sony invested in. Kinect is only for XB1. I dont understand MS's hard on for the thing.

If the Kinect was built in, then it would be no different.

Unlike blu ray we already got the Kinect and for the most part hated it.

Blu Ray is a format which is relevant. Many companies were depending on the survival of it and Microsoft themselves tried to destroy it. Of course they have accept that it has survived and are now using it. Microsoft force bundled the Kinect plain and simple. There is no game that has come out yet that truthfully needs Kinect out of the non-Kinect launch titles.

Blue-Ray was a new media medium being pushed by the industry. Kinect is a single party device being pushed to sell a video game console. There aren't similarities. The PS3 used a BR drive to furthure push the BR into adoption, and now in hand because of the early push from Sony, the BR medium is the default and the best way to watch movies. Kinect is a dumb device that no one wants, no one asks for, and the industry doesn't care for. Kinects industry is Microsoft alone.

The difference is everywhere.

Blu Ray was actually something that was good though.

I see a big difference. BD was the next medium to replace the DVD. It was only natural to use it in the PS3 and in my opinion the Xbox 360 should have had a BD-drive as well, would have been much better.

Kinect is not a new standard for the market at all, it's just a gadget for the X1, nothing more and nothing less.

I have read that Kinect "always on" takes up 10% of the xbox ones processing power. If true then that sucks and blu-ray did not take up 10% of the PS3 processing power.
