Forums - PC Discussion - Hey guys. Check out my new PC.

I have always wonder if the PSU fan should be oriented up or down. The case has some holes in the down side... aren't this for the psu fan ventilation?. Sorry for my bad english.

Nice, but why such an enormous power supply? Wouldn't a 650 be enough?

I was thinking the same... people always put enormous PSUs on their rigs even when their power consumption is under 600 watts. This is a good thing to do however... better more than less when power is involved.

Installing the PSU that way, it helps to get rid of the hot air from the case to the outside. It's very helpful if you have a graphics card that exhausts the hot air inside the case, as the one in his rig.

OT: Nice little rig. I think that besides an upgrade on your GPU in a couple of years, you'll be able to play most if not all the new gen multiplats perfectly fine.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Nice pc, the power supply is a bit much but nonthing wrong with future proofing if you can afford. When ever you decide to upgrade the less parts you have to buy the better. The H100 will be perfect and allow you to overlock the cpu. SSD is a must so add it when ever you can.

Sorry... It's not my intention to get offtopic but I think this info is of interest to the OP. I have read some stuff on the internet and some people say this:

"The screw holes allow you to mount the PSU either way.

Fan facing down is my recommendation.

It's better to have the PSU's intake fan pull in cooler outside air than to pull in the pre-warmed case air. PSU's operate more efficiently with cooler air. Also the case's internal air flow doesn't get disrupted."

Opinions?

Nice rig, but you should have really gone for at least a hd 7950 for just an extra $20 :-/ Why don't you oc your cpu to 4.0ghz for that little extra juice? :) 850w is a bit overkill though. Self built then? :)

Intel core i7 930 OC @ 4.0 ghz

XFX Double dissipation Radeon HD 7950 356 bit 3gb GDDR5 OC @ 1150 MHz core + 1575 x 4 memory

Triple channel DDR 3 12gb RAM 1600 MHz

I like how your cables are in order... mine is a mess. Is not a WOW! rig but is enough for gaming and easy to update.

Edit: I really suggest a SSD... today i bought one and it makes a big difference in almost every task (Windows basic tasks for the most part), not to mention that it's silent not like those noisy HDD

I bought mine ready to go the time, a huge online store that build custom rigs but the previous one my best friend and I put together ourselves, looked like someone dropped a grenade into the tower!

I pulled the PSU out of my old machine. I'm gonna get a Corsair 500W for the old one.

@allblue

I haven't bought the graphics card yet. The card in there is a 6850. I'm gonna get a 7950 instead of the R9 270x. When I get the cooler, I'm gonna OC probably to 4.2ghz. And built it myself :)

@feico865

I have it facing upwards because the tower is sitting on carpet :/
