So increasing user base from 24 million to 80 million is a loss?? Whilst playstation went from 150+ milion to 80 million won the generation....Yeah ok. 

In certain regions? Maybe. Worldwide? Doubtful. The Xbox series has never won a generation in worldwide sales, and I doubt this one will be any different. For one, they can't compete AT ALL in Japan, which is a massive market for consoles.

I dont even know if ms will release in japan within the year. 

to be fair, Japan is more of a handheld market (i think the ps3 only sold 9mill) so i don't see M$oft really pushing xbox there, but i think the price of the xbox will put people off, especially people outside of NA. I think that the ps4 will build an early lead, and while it won't dominate like the ps2 did, there will be no question which console sold the most 

I have to agree with this.

The problem with the hare & the tortoise metaphor is that the hare took a break. This metaphor came into place with the PS360 generation because M$ (being the hare in this case) was winning the race, and then decided to take a break under the assumption that they couldn't be beaten, whereas Sony (the tortoise) did not stop. Instead they continued to move, gaining the momentum to eventually win. Sony (now the hare) will most likely not take a break. They never did when they were the hare in the past. M$ isn't going to win if Sony has anything to say.
