I think they are being conservative seeing as they will not only be competing against Microsoft, they will be competing against themselves with the PS3.

That's a big estimation, considering the fact PS4 only release in europe and US

People expecting more than a couple hundred thousand for Japan are nuts.

2m in Jan-March means an average 154.000 sold per week. Without Japan.

Not bad if they manage, it would mean outselling the PS3 and it's usually a rare thing for a console to start outselling its predecessor right out of the gate.

Wouldn't it only be without Japan until mid February? I think the Japan launch plus the Infamous/Driveclub boosts are reason enough to think 2m for the quarter is certainly possible. Also, it launches in the rest of Asia in late December so that could help with Jan-March sales as well.

Either way I would at least expect sales to come pretty close.

What I care about more is when will I be able to walk into GameStop, or whatever and pick up a PS4. It's looking like February by the looks of it :(

You're right, it'll have over a month of Japanese sales. Should add a few hundred k if they have enough supply.

So the average for NA+Europe combined should be at around 120.000, slightly above PS3 I guess.

I wonder if that's where they expect demand to be or if they simply won't be able to produce more.

3 million in a month? This maybe more fun than I thought. That's all it has in Europe and in US only like a month and a half. Isn't that better than Wii or am I mistaken?
