Let's break down their sales figures and see by how many times 3DS has sold more than Vita in key regions.

3DS:

USA	Europe	Japan	Global
10.63 million	9.52 million	13.56 million	36 million

Vita

USA	Europe	Japan	Global
1.6 million	1.93 million	1.92 million	6 million

6.6 times more 4.9 times more 7 times more 6 times more

So in order for PS Vita to reach 3DS status it overall has to do 6 times better than what it is doing now. :) Which is all possible if Sony gets the right games out for Vita.

The Vita is never going to beat the 3DS, that would take some voodoo shit. All anyone can hope is that it does well enough for Sony to justify making another handheld one day.

To be honest i think they were pretty "doomed" from the start :P Nintendo played it very safe with the 3DS, which was a wise choice this time round.
