Forums - Microsoft Discussion - If Microsoft were to vanish in the gaming industry, would you...

...remember them fondly? Say how cool the Xbox and Xbox 360 were when discussing about consoles? You know, like Sega?

Or you would still bash them and say "they deserved to disappear"?

Just curious to see your answers!

Before they go out of bussines they will buy the entire industry! jk

I would go and buy their consoles! I never had one and if they dissapear I would like to revisit their story.

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

Which option do you think that I would pick, Wright?

When they came in, they changed the industry for the better in a lot of ways, just as both Sony and Nintendo have, so I'll remember them fondly for that.

I just hope they sell off their IP so they can continue being made.

What am I suppose to feel lol

I'd simply move on to an alternative..... Wouldn't anyone?

Of course we all would move to an alternative. You didn't understand the question.

It wouldn't have any immediate impact on me, but competition encourages creativity and affordability.

Well, on one hand Microsoft simply does not make games that appeal to me. With the exception of Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia they have not had a single exclusive title that made me really want to have their systems. I wouldn't feel anything to see Forza or Halo simply die (I'd feel same way about Gran Turismo and Killzone) from gaming.

Now, to try and be fair Microsoft's big benefit to me is tangential. They provide a strong competitor to Sony which could be argued prevented Sony from becoming an insufferable arrogant monopoly in PS2 to PS3 transition. This, in turn, has made the PS4 a far better designed system for games and designers.

So, in a certain respect Microsoft are perfect. They keep my preferred console maker in check, but I never have to worry about them making a game since 2010 that has me fork out funds for a system just to play it.
